Seriously- saved my Ellie May's life! So thankful for the friendly and wonderful staff at Happy Tails. I have referred everyone I know to Happy Tails for any of their emergency needs. Ellie stayed with Happy Tails for 3 nights and they were so caring. It warmed my heart to come in to visit Ellie late one night and one of the vet techs was holding Ellie and snuggling her close. Ellie is only 5 lbs, and very very dependent. I really do thank Happy Tails for getting Ellie better and saving her life. Thank you!
We had a very traumatic night with our dog being hit by a car. The injuries were very grave. They gave us all our options and while they didn't tell us what to do, they were helpful in our decision process. They were so caring and kind. We have 3 boys who were with us and it was very difficult. We felt very cared for and thankful even in the midst of heartache. Sweet staff, caring doctor.
I was dog sitting my grand dogs, when suddenly,my daughter's silky terrier disappeared for a few minutes in my backyard. When he returned about 3 minutes later, he shook and acted hurt. Then he started throwing up very strange stuff. Not knowing dog throw up, I collected some in a plastic bag,and rushed him over to Happy Tails. They took him back immediately. I felt comfortable knowing that they had their eyes on him. This was not an appointment. It took about an hour, not unexpected for an emergency room, but the vet came in and asked questions about bird seed. We figured out that he got into some homemade bird suet after she looked at the throw up sample. She explained what she thought was the best treatment, and I gave the go ahead. Yes, It cost more than I had planned on spending. Yes, I wish I had insurance for him. Yes, the vets have the same heavy responsibility that human doctors have. Yes, the vets owe $ for vet school tuition, and have high insurance premiums. I know some people want this to be cheaper, but these professionals deserve their money. They save animals' lives. Our animals cannot tell us what is ailing them. The dogs and cats can't talk to the vets. The vets have to know a lot to be able to figure out what is wrong with them. It is always hard to spend money on the animals, or the dishwasher, or the car when we don't have it, but the animals are worth every penny for the joy they bring to our lives. The vet, Dr. Kim Toombs-Rappaport was lovely. She answered my questions and gave me a typed sheet that explained everything. The vet tech was gracious and kind. The sweet receptionist offered hot tea, and chocolate. I think most of the people who gave critical reviews are really upset that they do not have the money to pay for the service. They are also upset because their best friends are very sick. I feel for them. Some other people want to get something valuable for nothing, but the world does not work that way. Thank you, Happy Tails, for your valuable service. I would recommend you any time. I want to give a shout-out to my regular vet, Dr. Karen Kennedy, from Guilford Jamestown Vet. She is wonderful.
I am the President and Founder of The Merit Pit Bull Foundation. One of my personal dogs was critically injured while I was 4 hours away. I had her rushed to Happy Tails to stabilize her in order to save her life. Every hour was touch and go. They stabilized her after 40 hours of constant monitoring and are solely responsible for saving her life. I would recommend them to ANYONE as there staff is incredible!!! Dr. Gebhart and Dr. Toombs are as good as it gets!!!!! The vet techs on staff are capable and willing to fully monitor your baby at the most dire of situations. Trust me...you will be in good hands!!!!
Great service but over priced thank god I had the money to pay my $982 bill, but what happens when someone needs help and you have nowhere to turn. So it becomes save my pet or pay my rent. Think there should be some kind of payment options. People love their pets and want them to be taken care of but one may get the feeling that if you do not what is ask you are not a good person because you don't have all the money at one time. So may make people not bring their pets to the vet cause of the cost. I'm not so sure that the cost of treatment goes up after say 6 pm. It is just cause it is after hours. I do love my pets and I just think you should work on pricing. Btw got your postcard saying thank you and recommend a friend and you get $20. Really couldn't do that because I don't think I could ever afford y'all again.
