I'm really sorry you two had bad experiences but I recently moved here from Chicago and took my dog in and shes normally very nervous around vets, but the dr. was friendly and loving that she just let him take her paw and draw blood no fuss. he was very compassionate and worldly and was a very well rounded doctor. as for the staff i did not deal with them much but i had an issue with my payment and they were patient with me and let me resolve with my bank. I have to say that i had no issues. I am also taking my cat there starting tomorrow.
I take my cat to King Veterinary all of the time and I like the staff because they are so laid back. I feel they are professional but homey. We have boarded her a few times and my cat went one time and she came back home talking when before she went she hardly meowed at all. I have only had one bad experience when they had to muzzle her but now they cut her nails first before they give her a shot. Communication was the key and the staff always take good care of my cat.
I just moved from Georgia to NC. My dog was extremely sick and we had not established ourselves with a vet yet. I called King Veterinary Hospital to get an appointment early on Wednesday morning and the receptionist said that they could not get me in until 5:00 that afternoon. When I arrived at the office there were no other patients there. I arrived 15 minutes early because my dog had progressively gotten worse throughout the day and the receptionist joked that they never start early, so I would have to wait. I waited 20 minutes with no other patients there in the waiting room, while my dog got worse, and the receptionist and the aide stood around joking and laughing. The doctor finally came out at 5:05 and they had to carry my dog into the waiting room because she couldn't walk by then. She had become jaundice and clearly was in critical stage. The doc took some blood work and told me that he would call with the results the next day, but he wasn't sure what exactly was wrong. He said it could be liver failure or an infection. The aide took my dog and put her in the car for me because she still couldn't walk. They sent me home with no pain meds, antibiotics, nothing! I called the emergency care unit because my dog was now very disoriented when I got home. The E.R. couldn't believe that this doctor did not help my dog. Finally, THE NEXT DAY, the doctor called me at 3:00p.m. to let me know that he knew the results of my dogs blood work, and also to let me know that he was about to leave the office! I informed him that I found other care for my dog and if I would have relied on his lack of care and compassion my dog would have died last night. He told me that the reason that he did not call is because he had other emergency animals to see that day!! Like my dying dog wasn't an emergency to him! I would not go to this office. I wrote this review because I don't want anyone to experience what I experienced with him. He is a terrible doctor and his lack of concern for my dog was shocking. I have never seen a veterinarian with such lack of concern/care until I went to him. Oh, and the reason that I waited in the waiting room for twenty minutes, while my dog was severely bad off, was because the doctor was eating lunch!
Doctor Bowen is a good doctor unfortunately he does not arrive till late morning and that can be a problem with setting up appointments and emergencies. I went to King Vet a while back and left them for a couple of years because of their administrative staff. Very unprofessional and she got into an argument with me about my dog being aggressive while she was being boarded. You would think that professionals would know how to handle aggressive dogs but obviously not. I ended up going back to him because I really like Dr. Bowen and here I am again, had to leave them because of his staff. Some of the staff has changed but yet again, VERY unprofessional and one of them was very nasty to me at this last visit. In my opinion she shouldn't be working ANYWHERE with the mouth she has on her. I had also made 3 appointments in 2 months and 2 out of the appointmenst I was not on their schedule. They do seem to carry on a lot especially when Dr. Bowen is not on site. Then once, they called me up and told me that they were waiting for my dog to do surgery on him and I didn't even have an appointment. Needless to say, I am pretty fed up with these guys. Apparently they do not need nor want my business with the way I have been treated by them. So, I will take my business elsewhere which is what I have done!
