Nice building and vet, unfortunately their prices are on the verge of fraud, obviously taking advantage of the tourist population. We were staying in Kitty Hawk for vacation and had brought our dog with us (wouldn't be a vacation without her). The airlines require a health certificate within 10 days for flying animals. Being outside that window, we had to find a local vet in Kitty Hawk. An overview of the services performed at our appointment are as follows: weighed our dog, the vet looked her over taking no more than 5 minutes and then filled out/signed the cert. Then we were hit with a $141 bill....unbelievable. Our vet charges a reasonable price of $30 and we've never paid any more than $50 at out of town places. Pretty sad there are businesses like this. Do NOT take your pet here for a health cert.

I have used Coastal Animal Hospital ever since I moved here 10 years ago. Dr.Samson and the staff have always been there for Jersey and Jorge no matter what the circumstance. I appreciate all of their time, effort and knowledge in making sure my dogs stay healthy. They are an important part of my family and Coastal Animal Hospital treats them that way as well. Thanks for everything you do!!!

Dr. Samson and the staff are great! I had an emergency a few days ago with my dog, Achilles. Dr. Samson fit me right in with no problem. All around wonderful clinic and staff. I will highly recommend Coastal Animal Hospital to everyone I know! Thank you again to everyone there that helped me!

I feel so torn about my visit here. My guinea pig was sick while on vacation even after seeing a vet from back home so I brought him here. The staff was so great. They were really compassionate and gentle with my piggy. I felt that they told me everything and were helpful even after my visit. Unfortunately, they misdiagnosed my guinea pig and he was still sick a week later (after a $100 bill that clearly didn't fix anything). I wouldn't recommend taking exotics here unless you are really in a bind and can't find a more specialized animal hospital.

This is a review of the boarding and not the hospital portion of the business. I will not be boarding here again. Price: I boarded my 2 dogs (Lab and Beagle) here for 2 nights and the total bill was 127.30 with no additional playtime. They charge a 16.50(per dog) "Comprehensive Boarding Exam" and a 12.30 "New record" fee. That is 45.30 in additional charges, none of these fees were discussed while dropping the dogs off and the prices are not listed on the paperwork that you fill out or on the website. When I dropped them off on Sunday I took them straight to the run and closed the gate with NO "exam." I told this to the cashier and she said the "exam" was done on Monday, so this exam to prevent fleas and ticks is done 24+ hours after they are in the room with other dogs? Feeding: I brought food with me because my lab has a food allergy. We measure the food accurately and add 1 extra cup just in case. When I picked them up the bag was still over half full which means they were either underfeeding my dogs or using their house food. Kennels: They do list their kennel size on the website but I thought they were very small in person which is probably why they use a picture on their website of a 5 pound dog in one of them. The facility itself was clean but several of the runs with dogs in them were dirty and had not been cleaned and because of the small size there is no way for the dog to stay away from their mess. Maybe there is no overnight staff or the dogs are not walked enough, I don't know. My dogs did come home clean.
