We had used this vet for the previous 4 years but never for an emergency. On Thursday, my 16 year old son took our lab to the office in Locust with concerns as he was vomiting, lethargic, and not eating or drinking. They ran a couple of tests, did some x-rays, and gave him a prescription for motion sickness and an appetite enhancer and sent him home. They didn’t want to monitor him or even listen to his heart. They told us if he didn’t improve in a week, to bring him back. Things actually got worse and we took him to different vet first thing Monday morning. This vet immediately looked at him and began running every test he could starting by listening to his heart and looking at it via ultrasound. He informed us our dog’s heart was very enlarged and he was so dehydrated that would like to keep him and give him IV fluids to help his recovery. While he was there, he had a heart attack due to his enlarged heart and died. In speaking with this vet, we were informed had it been caught on Thursday, at West Stanley Animal clinic, there was a good chance my dog would still be here today they could have prescribed a medication to help. I called the West Stanley Animal hospital today to speak with a manager or owner and explained what had happened. The lady on the phone was rude and condescending. She showed no compassion for the loss of our child (dog) and acted like "oh well". As I read these reviews this seems to be very common for them. I plan on filing a formal complaint with the NC State Veterinary Board today and disputing all charges with our credit card company. None of this will bring my best friend back but if 1 person can save their dogs life by reading this and not going there, that will provide me some sense of relief.

This animal clinic was recommended by my brother, who followed Dr. Anne. The only positive was that they were about $75 cheaper to declaw my cat that my current vet. My overall service was horrible. I needed to have someone else pick her up the next day. When I called to set this up, the receptionist didn't ask for the person's name. 2 weeks later, with no phone call from the vet to check on the patient, she appears to have an infection. When I called to make an appointment to take her in, I was told that, even though the hours are until 5, I had to be there between 8-11 or 2-4. I explained that I was a teacher and could possibly be there by 4:10. I was told that they didn't make any consessions for this and they didn't see patients after 4pm. My comment of "I will go back to my vet" resulted in the receptionist hanging up on me. REALLY!!! I don't care how inexpensive they are, I refuse to recommend them for any furry family member. Boo to you West Stanly Animal Clinic.

Front desk staff is VERY UNCARING and RUDE! Tessa is the worst one! I went in to pick up my dog's heart medicine and when i got home i realized it was the WRONG DOSE i mean LETHAL!! my dog weighs only 4 pounds and the amount Dr. Yowell gave me was for a dog over 100 pounds! When I took the medicine back to them, Dr. Yowell claimed they didn't have the right dose in stock! so why give me the wrong medicine if you KNEW it WASN'T RIGHT??? ~MORONS~ Seriously talk about incompetent! I will be taking my dog somewhere else! So if you love your pet DO NOT take him/her there! And if you do decide to take your pet there PLEASE LOOK AT YOUR PETS MEDICINE and make sure its right!!! because they could care LESS!! :(

Dr. Griffin is awful and practices as if he is uneducated or just doesn't care. The prices are very cheap but you get what you pay for. Lost a dog due to misdiagnoses...She was pooping blood and so sick. He gave her a shot and said she would be better by the next day but I woke up to a dead dog. Took another sick dog there and he said she had allergies. Again he gave a shot and told me she would be better by the next day. 2 days later she could not walk. Took her down the road to Colonial Animal Hospital and she was diagnosed as having Addisons disease, he potassium level was so high that I have no idea how she is still with me. She is now on monthly injections and a pill daily for the rest of her life. I have lost 4 dogs since going to Dr. Griffin and know at least 1 was 100% his fault, 1 possibly was but I had to put the 9 week old puppy down he had been poked and prodded so much I could not bear watching any more suffering, 1 had an amputation that was unnecessary, never was able to even heal before I had to put him down. Unnecessary pain and suffering and Dr. Griffin should have known better. I have seen both of the other vets there and my experiences with them were ok. The young vet just out of school should find someone else to study under because he is going to ruin her career. If your pets get sick...FIND ANOTHER VET!!! Shame on you Dr. Griffin.

The female vet there, Dr Ann, is heinous. She showed no compassion when I had to put my dog down due to aggressive behavior/animal attacks. She told me I couldn't be there when he was sedated because if he scratched me, they would have to cut his head off. I had been a regular "customer" there with all three of my pets until this incident. I will never go back. It was horrible experience I won't soon forget. Thankfully Colonial Animal Clinic showed me compassion and kindness on this aweful day. I was so grateful for their understanding and concern.
