The staff at CVETS were professional and straight forward about pricing. The man who answered the phone was compassionate and helpful, then the staff who helped us in person lived up to our expectations. They made a hard situation easier for us. I you need a vet on short notice, don't hesitate to trust these folks. Thank you CVETS
My father's dog died this past Saturday after leaving CVETS. We reported our family dog missing late Saturday morning. We called every area shelter, clinic, etc... that we could think of. We also posted flyers in the surrounding neighborhoods. A kind man called my family and told my sister that he was very sorry and that he had hit our dog and took him to CVETS early Saturday morning. He offered to pay to have our dog stabilized, but they refused and said that it was their policy to send strays to Mecklenburg County Animal Control. Who would think that a pure bred elderly Shar Pei in the Weddington area would be a stray? Sounds perfectly logical to me! Anyway, CVETS poorly assessed our unstable dog and sent him to "Meck" Co. Animal Control even though he was found in "Union" County. Animal Control's staff member made the decision to euthanize our dog that Saturday night. The major issue here is that we called CVETS on Saturday well before our dog was euthanized and gave them a complete description, our contact info, where he would have been found etc...CVETS said they had no record of him. This is just horrific, despicable and extremely heart wrenching. He may or may not have been able to survive, but CVETS poor communication and lack of compassion have no place in our community. I called to speak with the manager and she refused to speak to me about this because she had already talked to my brother's girlfriend. She told me over her speakerphone that she wouldn't talk to me about this and hung up on me. I called back and demanded an explanation and she told me that he wasn't my dog and she wouldn't talk to me about it. Well, Brenda he was my dog and for the past six years I have helped to take care of him for my father. I am the one that gave that dog to my dad 12 years ago. It is not their fault that he was hit by a car. We take the blame for that. All I know is that we lost a family member and a kind man tried to help by taking him where he thought our dog would be safe, but he wasn't safe at all. The manager and staff at CVETS are reckless and incomprehensible. Stay away and never take a stray there! Go to CVS for emergency and specialty services!
I thought my cat had a bowel obstruction on a weekend. After five hours here and over $500, all they did was give him an enema. Sent him home with his hind quarters smelling like POOP, and still miserable. They said they would forward all my records to my regular vet. Cat was still very ill, so I took him to my regular vet the next day. They had to request the records from CVETS twice. When they got the records, my vet said the diagnostic test were the most abbreviated test they could have run...and had to run more tests. Long story short, my cat indeed had a bowel obstruction, and had to have surgery and several days in the hospital. CVETS is responsive when you call, and they have a nice receptionist, but that's not going to help your pet. This was a waste of my money and time.
Needed to take my cat to an emergency vet at 10 PM at night. I did a quick Google search and called a couple places. Who knows where to go when the time comes. Even though "CVETS" was farther from my house than another place, their staff answered the phone and were very helpful in our time of need. The rate was comparable to other ER vets at $93. Wonderful customer service: 1) Presented estimates and very patiently allowed us to make decisions before taking action. Also, presented us with multiple alternative treatment options. 2) Upon our request, the technicians were asked if they were comfortable administering injections and taking blood in the room with us and they agreed. We were used to that at our regular vet. They were so sweet and caring to our kitty. 3) Dr. Jess Hunter was knowledgeable and thorough. She took the time to explain everything, answer all our questions, as well as show us the x-rays. 3) CVETS followed up with us a few days later to check on how our cat was doing and sent us a card in the mail. Nice to know they care and you aren't only money to them.
This animal clinic should be CLOSED DOWN! All they care about is money and NOT animal care. I brought my dog to them to be treated and my dog ended up dying. The doctor has no knowledge or expertise at all. Staff is VERY UNPLEASANT. I was at this clinic before when my dog had an incident on his leg and the doctor said that we must cut off the dog's leg. We didn't believe what the doctor said, so we took the dog home and the next day the dog started walking and his leg healed perfectly fine! STAY AWAY FROM THIS VET!!!
