I have never had a negative experience with a veterinarian at this practice. However I have had multiple negative experiences with the receptionists at this practice. Going to this practice is like what many people think of when going to the DMV or any other government office where civil servants who cannot be fired are working. I am switching to Brown Creek Animal Hospital. I would go to Monroe Animal Hospital were it not so expensive, because all the staff I have encountered at Monroe Animal Hospital are compassionate and professional. I am not quite sure what is the cause of the strange attitudes the receptionists at Sun Valley Animal Hospital display, they act like authority figures presiding over children rather than the customer service professionals they are supposed to be. I am sad to have to write a negative review of this office because I am sure the veterinarians are as competent as they can be. However their office manager is doing a very poor job in hiring appropriate representatives and in training the receptionists how to deal with clients. I have worked for multiple veterinarians and kennels, and have never encountered customer service staff with such bad attitudes (no vet I have ever worked for would have tolerated their staff treating clients badly). I really don't understand why the veterinarians at this practice would allow themselves to be represented by such sour, negative, and unprofessional representatives. I am only writing this after having many encounters of this nature over a ten year period. I am so glad to have found out about Brown Creek Animal Hospital, it is very much worth driving twice as far to be treated like a human being. I am elated to finally be able to transfer my business to another veterinarian & not have to dread dealing with the unskilled staff at Sun Valley.

We have been taking our family pets to Sun Valley Animal Hospital for over 10 years! Dr Barker has always been caring and professional. He has such a great name to boot! He has helped us to care for 2 litters of Chocolate Labrador Puppies, and continually offers his expertise in so many areas. The whole staff is friendly and eager to help. Thanks! John & Mocha!

Dr. Barker and Dana are the best in the world. A.J., my Jack Russell of twelve years, passed away on July 24, 2010. Dr. Barker and Dana were there for us during this difficult time. Dr. Barker explained with patience what was going on inside my little man's body. He explained what would happen and to call him at any time I needed him. Dana cradled A.J. in her arms whenever we visited the hospital. A.J. loved these two individuals so much. He was never nervous around either one. Thank you, Dr. Barker and Dana, for what you have done for me and family (doggies). Words cannot express the gratitude and thankfulness I have for you both. Thank you for being there for us. You are the best in the world! :-)

We have been clients of SunValley Animal Hospital for almost 15 years and cannot imagine taking our animals to any other veterinary practice. Through routine exams, surgeries, and the end-of-life decisions we have had to make over the years, no other practice has given us the care we know our aniamls deserve. DR. BARKER MISDIAGNOSED, INCORRECTLY PRESCRIBED MEDS, FAILED TO TAKE PROPER CORRECTIVE ACTIONS. HE EGREGIOUSLY ERRED BY SIMPLY IGNORING THE BASELINE BLOOD DRAW CALLED FOR WITH THE MED DERAMAXX. THE FINAL RESULT: HE KILLED MY BEST FRIEND. HE KILLED A VIBRANT 22 MONTH OLD BLUE EYED BEAUTY NAMED 'DOC'. AN AUSSIE W/ A SENSE OF HUMOR AND HEART OF GOLD. BARKER WAS ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH THIS IN JUST UNDER 5 DAYS. BARKERS FINAL GIFT TO US WAS A BLUE PLASTIC SQUARE WRAPPED IN TAPE CONTAING THE BODY OF MY BEST FRIEND. HIS PARTING WISDOM REVEALED HE COULD NOT ATTEST TO CAUSE OF DEATH AND WE OWED THEM $700. TAKE MY WORD, OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES
