My husband and I moved to Mount Airy several years ago with two rescue dogs. Shortly after arriving a cat showed up at our door so he is now a part of our family, too. We asked several new friends who we knew had animals who their favorite vet was and we started taking all three of our animals to Animal Medical Services. We have been thrilled with the services we have gotten, including the two Vet Specialists that we needed that were recommended by AMS. I also appreciate that they stay on top of new medicines and technology. My dog hurt his hip and I was pleased with the results of the new laser treatment that he received. I feel like the staff and vets there care for our animals like their own, while always trying to maintain a fair price for services.

i had to put down my dog max, that had been with us for 15 yrs. i wanted it to be as humane as possible, so i didn't want to just shoot him. so i ask what the animal medical how much it would be. they said about 35 to 40$. so i said ok. and took him in the next day. all they did was give him a shot and i carried him out the back door and buried him. then they charged me almost twice as much! it was the same as if other offices, that took care of the body too. i thought mechanics were the only ones who did this. don't trust them as far as you can throw them!

I have used them as my large animal vet since 1999. They have always been accessible even late at night. We lost our mini donkey shortly after giving birth. 2 months later, the baby got sick. They offered to come out to the house, but since he was small I asked if I could just bring him in. Baby stayed with them for 4 days and eventually we lost him. I was expecting the bill for all the care and the 4 days stay to be atronomical, but it was A LOT less than I had expected. The staff called with their condolences and even sent a sympathy card. From the front end to the back, this office is great! I have called several times with rescues and each time the vet either picked right up on the call or immediately called me back. This is a top notch office. They take your animals welfare very seriously. I have used two other vets in the area, this is the cheapest on farm checks and office visits. And if you feel you need a vet at your barn, these guys are there....i had to schedule an emergent appointment for another vet, for a downed donkey, she couldn't be there for 2 days. So even if you feel like they are more expensive...you are definately getting the service you pay for.

I called for my kitten's shots and they said 36 dollars which includes a vet check-up, a dewormer and the shots. I got there and they would not give my indoor kitten who has already been tested for feline leuk, and FIV previously, her shots because they could not locate the records from my other vet. So instead of paying 36 dollars for all of it I ended up paying around 100 dollars. Wow they really need to get in shape there or someone will call the BBB on them. I guess it is time to go to yet another veterinarian.
