I cannot say enough about the kindness and compassion of this fine group of veterinary professionals. While traveling from Texas with my sweet, precious fur baby Cha Cha, the time came when her terminal cancer was proving to be more than she or I could bear. I randomly chose Animal Hospital of New Bern from several Googled listings, and truly felt the hand of God in guiding me to these wonderful people. They have proven to be beyond my expectations in the transition of Cha from the wonderful life we had together, to the Rainbow Bridge. Today, as I am home in Texas again, I received a package containing my beloved dog's ashes in a beautiful urn with a lovely sympathy card from those who were with us in the end. While my heart breaks with the ache of missing my best friend, I am truly convinced that there is no better choice that I could have made than placing our fate in the hands of the Animal Hospital of New Bern. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Dr. Wheelis. He is price conscious and does not order unnecessary tests or procedures. He takes his time with you and your pets and does not rush you out of the office. I had an urgent question about my dog that couldn't wait through the weekend - when I called the office number - they had an automated message that provided his cell phone number. His PERSONAL cell phone on which I immediately called and left a message. This happened on a Saturday - he returned my call within 2 hours - on the same day - while he was enjoying free time with his family. He is the most dedicated and available vet we have ever had. We are fortunate to have the option to take our animals to the vet on base - however - because Dr. Wheelis is so absolutely wonderful - we take our 2 dogs and one cat to him. His time and dedication and outstanding care are worth it. Love him and highly, highly recommend!!!
