Last April we noticed our 10 year old male Akita was not acting like himself. We had just moved in the area from Lake Norman and had no idea what vet to use. Living in an equistrian village, I asked all the animal lovers here where we should go. I was told take him to Wilkes Vet Hospital, and that is where we went. The love from all the staff and Dr. Royal was amazing. We found out that he had aggressive cancer, and though the cancer took his life, the love by the Great Dr. Royal was unbelieveable. She sat with us, cried with us (and we had only just met!!!). The staff at Wilkes Vet was the same, they shared in our loss, the love here is like no other Vet I have ever been too. If we move again, I will still use this Vet. By the way our dogs cancer was due to toxic mold!!! Our other 5 year old male akita also got cancer, but Wilkes Vet saved his life and removed the tumor from his nose, he is alive, cancer free, healthy and full of life, thanks to the Dr.s At Wilkes Vet. Hospital.!!!!!
I have a one-year-old cockatiel that I took to see Dr. Bloise today for a routine nail/beak trim. First of all, the veterinary office was very hard to find, as we are coming from out-of-town with no knowledge of the town of North Wilkesboro. We were an hour late to our appointment, despite our leaving 45 minutes prior to our appointment time. Because of this, there was a $5 "late fee." Upon telling the receptionist that we could not find the clinic, she responded, "you should have called." I called ELEVEN times in two hours, trying to ask for directions, and got a busy signal everytime. When we met Dr. Bloise, he seemed very informed and inteligent (almost like a Cesar Milan of the veterinary world), but in practice, was not very helpful. He trimmed by bird's toenails (presumably, just to get something done: 1. for the money and 2. to not waste our visit), but ended up cutting every toenail past the quick, making her bleed from almost every toenail. This experience cost me $10 and my bird's trust. While he did use a QuikStop powder for the bleeding, you could tell my cockatiel was not a happy camper. Even I know that cutting the quick if painful and possibly damaging. I'll save the gas money and the $10 trim and do her toenails myself next time. I am unsure how this veterinary hospital is with other breeds, but my bird and I will not be back.
Thanks for the previous review dissapointed bird owner, i just made an appt to have my new cockatiels wings clipped at this same place. She is not hand raised but she is a sweetheart, i have only had her for a few months and want to gain her trust not destroy any chance of gaining it. It would just kill me to know that she is hurting, i love her very much. I will wait until I can get her on my own hand or look for another bird care specialist. Thank you very much!!
Very caring and always polite will never use another place they treat my pets as if they where there's.
