Let me give some context to my visit. I worked in an animal hospital for 5 years and have worked at a podiatrist for 3 years, so I'm very familiar with animal care, clinic workflow, and "bedside manner." I called Boulevard to get an appointment for my cat who had a wound on his paw that he was unable to heal on his own. The one positive of the hospital, the front desk staff was very nice and offered a sameday appointment, both the last one of the day and the 2nd to last. I took the last one, unsure of my work schedule, but I was able to get off early, so I thought I would go early, hoping that would keep them from having to stay very late. Made no difference, since I still waited almost 30 minutes to be taken to an exam room, despite 3 people sitting at the front desk not doing anything (I guess they weren't assistants, but kennel workers). We were eventually taken to an exam room by what I assume was the only assistant there, and he got my cats vitals. I let that assistant know that I would need to know the cost of everything before we proceed with any treatment since I'm on a budget. Then the doctor came in. I don't feel I am being unfair to say she was rude, condescending, and very impersonal. She performed a very undetailed exam of my cat and his paw then proceeded to instruct me as to what she was going to do for him. I reiterated I would need an estimate before consenting to any treatment. She put together an estimate that was almost $350, including a short term injectable antibiotic for the "raging infection," oral antibiotics, narcotic pain meds for while in office with even more to go home (since the baby aspirin I had given him "did nothing for pain," despite all my experience and evidence to the contrary), and $11 for some solution to soak his foot in, even though I had told her was soaking at home in betadine/iodine. I trimmed down her estimate to what I felt the cat needed (cat was showing no signs of pain, eating well) and she came in to start her clip and clean the paw. There was no pus in the foot that she could get out, so her "cleaning" only proceeded to get it bleeding, which she did not bandage or even rinse off the paw at all. Then, at the end, she informed me (not asked me) she was going to give him a rabies booster even though he was current "since we didn't know what bit him" (another fee, not on the estimate I signed). She also tried to guilt me into an x-ray (also not on the estimate), even though she said if a bone in the paw was broken, there wasn't anything we could do for it except keep him quiet and inside and let it heal. All of her suggestions were not necessarily bad or wrong, but the condescending manner in which they were presented was infuriating and the comments about how I had been treating it at home made me feel very small. A veterinarian should be someone who works with you to made decisions about YOUR cat's health. This one (I couldn't understand her name and it's not on their website) seemed to be combative with me and at the same time, not all that concerned with my cat in general, just treating the situation instead of the animal. I will not be returning.

If I could give them zero stars I would. First off...I took my sick maltese to them about a year ago. He was terminal and there was no hope for recovery. Instead of being honest with me about his condition, the vet wrote me a bunch of perscriptions, ran a bunch of procedures and sold me this crazy expensive food...At no time did she hint that he would not be getting better. In fact, in hind sight, she was overly optimistic. I spent $700 there that day! After three days of him suffering I took him to another vet. He couldn t keep water down, much less all those meds...something I expressed to the vet...to which she insisted that the meds would help him keep food down. Of course it did not. The 2nd vet informed me of the magnitude of his condition by looking at the same x-rays and tests from the first vet and told me that there was no procedure or drugs that could help my poor dog. I had him put down the next morning. I feel like Boulevard Animal Hospital and THAT VET allowed my dog to suffer needlessly just to make another buck. I needed honesty and compassion for my dog...not false hope. Now, all that was really emotional. So, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and continued to take my poo-chin there for her annual shots only. This is because it is close to my house and convient. WELL as of today I ll make the drive to the 2nd vet mentioned above! I attempted to fill my perscription through petmeds. WELL, it s Boulevard s policy to not fax the script for you or to confirm it over the phone. You have to have your script from your appointment and mail it in through snail mail to petmeds. I asked the receptionist why?! . She stated that it was just their policy. I ll tell you WHY! They purposely make it as inconvient as possible to get that script filled anywhere but there. Well, When it s saving me as much as it is to get it filled online and the terrible attitudes of this place, it s worth the extra work to make sure they do not get another dime off of me!

Very expensive. The three times I have gone in to have my pups looked at, I have left with a bill well over $300. i took my elderly dog in for a general check up and with 'suggested' blood work, the visit was nearly $500...and he's in perfect health. The doctor and staff seem nice, but I've never experienced the amount of the vet bill I got and nobody there seemed to have a solution for my voiced concern that the bill was high, especially when there were no health problems. i will no longer take my pets to here.

I recently took my two dogs in for their annual shots. It always seems high here, but I have continued to use them ONLY because they are close to my house. Well, I spent over $500.00 in shots, flea treatment, ect. A couple months later I took both of my dogs to be groomed and was shocked to find out that they had forgotten to give one of them their rabies shot. When I called about it I was given a bunch of excuses. When I rushed over to get the shot, I was seen prompty, but I was still charged for the shot. I felt it should of been free due to the inconvience that it caused me. I will never return to this vet. I have always felt they were overpriced. Now I believe that they are more concerned with money than well being of the pets that they treat. The only thing positive that I can say is that the lady that does the grooming is very friendly and is very resonable price wise.

I really like Dr. Kingsbury. She is thorough and my doggers like her!
