I can't say enough good things about how well Dr. Wages and the entire staff at CareFirst have taken care of our two dogs over the past four years. Our oldest dog just had a second surgery there, and our other dog had a surgery this year as well - we have to face it, the dogs are getting older and have some problems. However, the CareFirst vets and staff always take the time to examine our dogs carefully, then discuss with us the care options open and their recommendations. We always feel like we have their full attention and personal concern for our pet. The front desk staff are courteous and helpful and we always get our follow-up calls and answers to questions when we call in. We highly recommend CareFirst.

Carefirst gets 3 stars (not less) only because of Dr. Wages, our dog's vet who we've been pleased with as she's attentive, communicates well, and follows up after she provides care to our dog. Everything else about CareFirst at Oberlin is disappointing, however. The front desk staff is usually deep in personal conversation and it takes a few minutes for one of them to realize the others aren't going to assist us and finally acknowledge we are there. It always takes several minutes to locate our dog's information and telling us that they can't find the file and asking if we are sure we are at the right CareFirst. We had our dog take a few lessons of training, leaving instructions as to what commands we wanted practice with. We got a report with the commands she worked on, none of which were what we requested. It seems that this clinic (with the exception of Dr. Wages) is more focused on the quantity of animals they can get through the door, not the quality service and care that the animals deserve.

Took my cat in today due to failure to eat or drink the past 24 hrs. Initial waiting time a little long but not bad (15-20 min). Very understanding and cooperative staff. He was running a high fever at 104.6. Initial estimate was $790 with hospital stay but walked out with only paying $350 for blood work, steroids, and camel hump for hydration. Felt relieved not to drop a fortune on a basically stray cat I adopted from a friend. Still nervous being I they could tell me was he has a high white blood cell count from some kind of infection. Which understandably is hard to diagnose the cause. Being my first experience, I walked out satisfied. Of course that's assuming that he'll return to his energetic self here in a few days.

I absolutely love Dr. Wages is amazing! She is so sweet and extremely knowledgeable! They do not do unnecessary things to make money. The facility is always clean, and they take care of the animals in such a loving way. I would recommend this animal hospital to everyone and I do!

Dr. Sawyer is by far the best vet I've ever had. When my cat was diagnosed with terminal cancer she talked us through all the possible treatments, and when we called with (so many!) questions about medications she took time to explain all possible side-effects and interactions they might have. Right up to the end of his life she was both incredibly caring yet professional, and I'm grateful to both her and all of the vet techs my guy encountered. They truly went above and beyond, and I'm so grateful.
