Mitchell Mill has been an awesome place for our pets to get care. Dr. C been great and one of the things I really like about her is that a lot of her work goes towards rescue and placement of pets into loving homes. I really appreciate that and the fact that I have a friend who works at the front desk has also mentioned that much of her revenue goes back into helping those rescues. She is definitely in it for the love of animals and it shows. We'll always take our pets to her.

I adopted a puppy from MMAH two weeks ago. He was very calm and sweet, and the people there told me that as a puppy he had parvo and that all of his litter mates died, but he was better. I brought him home for one day and he vomited several times, and was very lethargic. I brought him to be boarded there for four days because I had to travel for work, and with all of the vomiting did not want to burden a friend with him. I told them and they said they would keep an eye on him, and picked him up four days later. IMMEDIATELY when we got home, the vomiting began again, accompanied by bloody diarrhea- I am talking constant, watery, blood filled stool. I thought maybe it was nerves and did everything I could to cuddle him and keep him hydrated and calm. My mother came to visit to help and immediately said that he was obviously very sick, so we called MMAH, who were closed, and then the emergency vet listed. The EV said that it sounded like he still had parvo. We brought him back to the MMAH and the vet was very defensive- said that he was completely healthy while there and must have picked something up from being in my home (no other dogs, very clean). They gave the adoption fee back but would not refund the boarding fees. I will never adopt a pet from them again and will strongly warn anyone who tells me they are interested in adopting away from MMAH- they gave me a very, very sick little guy and did not take accountability for it.

Dr Covington and Mitchell Mill staff are the best practice I've found around Raleigh!! They have provided excellent care for our 2 year old golden retriever/corgi mix Medley and she absolutely loves going there for her appiontments, and to hang out at doggy day care. I moved to Durham and I drive over to their practice 45 minutes away just so Dr Covington can be her vet!! They always have amazing dogs they have rescued up for adoption there and are very knowledgable about health issues of all kinds! Any review on this that isn't 5 stars is not accurate they are the best practice in the triangle area!!

My Sheltie Sebastian is 13 years old. We got him 2 1/2years ago after my husband’s Uncle Steve passed away. Sebastian was his baby. Uncle Steve thought he was going to have to put Sebastian down because his vet had told him that the dog was in liver failure. He was weak and it was hard for him to walk. He had to be carried down the stairs to use the bathroom. He was also 20lbs overweight and his fur was very thin. I brought Sebastian to MMAH mainly to see how we could make his last days as healthy and comfortable as possible. I knew I would have to have him euthanized soon but I didn’t want to. They immediately diagnosed Sebastian with Cushing’s. This was the cause of his “liver failure”, his weight gain, hair loss, lethargy and weakness. It is not curable, but MANAGEABLE!!!! We had new hope. We got Sebastian all tested and started treatment. Within a couple of months his transformation was amazing! Everything improved - liver function, energy levels, and no one has had to carry him down the stairs in a while. His fur grew back in all nice and fluffy. He also shed that extra 20 pounds! However he still had problems with his back legs and hips. They were atrophied and Dr. C and Linda could feel the bones rubbing. It had to be painful and his mobility in his leg had improved all it was going to from the Cushing’s treatments. He never ran and sometimes going up the stairs took awhile. It was hard work for him to lift his back leg high enough to reach the steps! I thought we had done the best we could and I was very thankful for the change in him. About a year ago, MMAH suggested MLS –laser therapy. It sounded like a miracle treatment. I am a true skeptic- if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. But we had already come this far and it couldn’t hurt so why not try it and see. After the first treatment I noticed that Sebastian seemed to be able to lift that back leg a little higher and go up the steps faster. I figured it was just wishful thinking on my part though and perhaps he wasn’t really better. Then we got the second treatment. Did I just see Sebastian running down the driveway? OK maybe there is something to this! After our first week of laser treatment, Sebastian was acting like a new dog. He was walking faster. His footing was improved on our wood floors. Steps were no problem for him. He was actually running! This was over a year ago. We have continued his weekly treatments. We call them Spa Days because he enjoys going to Mitchell Mill and getting his treatments and seeing everyone! He has regained muscle mass in his back leg and hips. I can tell overall that he just feels better. He is acting like a dog. He’s got his spunk back! This skeptic is now a true believer! Thanks to Dr. Covington and all the staff at Mitchell Mill Animal Hospital!
