This is by far The Best Veterinary Clinic I have Ever taken my pets to! I am 52, lived in several states across the country and have had animals ALL my life. I can tell you story after story of other vet clinics padding the bill and ordering every test imaginable from the outset of bringing my pet to them and the extraordinarily high costs of care. With North Wake Animal Hospital they take it one step at a time, one test, one step, not everything all at once. It has enabled me to take excellent care of my two older cats. From the front desk staff, to the vets, to the back office I have always received compassion and assistance when and where needed. I love North Wake Animal Hospital and I highly recommend them!!!!
We have been going to North Wake Animal Hospital for approximately 8 years. We liked Dr. Darch, but there is nothing wrong with the new staff. We bring our two dogs there. The only problem is that they don't take appointments, so you sometimes have to wait a long time to be seen. I would recommend anyone to go to North Wake Animal Hospital.
Dr. Teresa Danford recently left the vet I had been using, but I trust her so much I moved my pets to North Wake. At my previous vet I had a cat that had been diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy and when Dr. T has seen him she questioned the diagnosis and referred me to a heart specialist for an echo cardiogram. I took him for the appointment and discovered that there was absolutely nothing wrong with him and we had been giving him a pill daily for 5 years and limiting his play. Dr. Teresa then did a dental cleaning and extractions on him (we had been concerned about sedation because of the misdiagnosed heart condition) and he's feeling so much better!! We also took our cat with entropion to see her last week for surgery and she's fixed his eyes and for the first time in his life he can see! He's already feeling so much better! Dr. Teresa is just a fantastic vet that will take time outside of work to research something if she needs to know more. I feel when I take my pets to her they are getting the best possible care but someone who is thinking critically about their issues! I love that she questioned the diagnosis that my cat had at another vet and she was right! She also does a lot of volunteer work with a rescue group I volunteer with and has helped many of those cats on her own time. Alley Cats and Angels uses her as their primary diagnostic vet. I notice a lot of people on this site complaining about Dr. Darch being gone, but if you want the best possible vet care, by someone who cares enough about your pet to keep thinking about your case even after your 15 minutes in the exam room are up - you need to see Dr. Teresa at North Wake. I'll follow her wherever she goes!!
My daughter waited with my bulldog, Daisy, for over 1 1/2 hours this morning to see a vet and have Daisy's hips checked for dysplasia. They were not busy.....in fact there were 3 empty rooms.....yet no one even tried to help her until after she had put my dog back into the car to go home. I don't know what the problems are but the customer service under this new management is terrible. And now you have to have an appointment to see the vet. Dr. Darch is definitely missed here in Wake Forest.
I have had several encounters with this vet over the last few months. I can't remember the order, but my husband and I took in a few cats. They were outside stray cats, so we didn't want to put too much into them, and didn't have the money, so this place was recommended to us. My first cat, had a problem with his eye. Given drops, sent on our way, $200 later. This wasn't so bad when another vet we had taken him to to get a first opinion said he may loose his eye, have to have an $800 surgery, and/or be put down. Another time, I had to put my childhood dog down. Very easy, very respectful. That was the first and only experience I've ever had putting any animal down, and it was as good as could be expected for the situation. A few weeks later, another of the cats we took it was having a problem with his back end (back legs) and had a rectal prolapse. Dr. Darch recommended surgery. I talked it over with my husband, and the next day we decided on surgery. I had to go out of town (this was the weekend before Christmas), so my husband took the cat in at 8am. Picked him up at 5pm. Paid $250 for surgery plus pain meds. Within 3 hours of getting home the cat died. Thankfully I wasn't home, but my husband said the cat was screaming in pain. We were supposed to go back the following week after the reopened to remove stitches. Obviously the cat was dead, so we never went in for the appointment. We never received a reminder for our appointment, and when we missed our appointment they never called to make sure he got his stitches out. So, with that experience, I will probably not go back to Dr. Darch for anything important. I know surgery is risky, but he told us this surgery was routine and happened every day and the cat would be fine. Given a second chance - I had gone in to this vet with a friend after my last experience and was less than pleased with the way she and her dog were treated, as well as another lady in the waiting room. However, I found a growth on my dog on a Sunday and not wanting to waste time searching for what new vet to go to, I made an appointment at NWAH. They did give me a bit of a run around with calling me only 1 hour before my appointment to let me know my dogs rabies shot was out of date and coincidently they had run out, so they wouldn't be able to see her. After speaking with a few different people, the vet agreed that if I came back the next day for the shot, I could be seen at my scheduled time. I came in and was seen quickly. Dr. Cole Chavis saw my dog after the vet tech did some initial info gathering stuff. Dr Chavis came in looked at the growth, suggested it be removed ( I probably would have asked for it to be removed anyway) and then gave me some estimates on cost. She also told me, if I decided to go with surgery, we could do her rabies shot at that time, instead of having to bring her in again. So, we scheduled surgery for the same week. I brought her in the morning of and dropped her off with no issues. I received a call after she was awake from surgery letting me know she was doing great, and everything went well. I came back that afternoon, and Dr Chavis went through her very thorough discharge instructions and reassurances. She assured me she would be in the office the next day should anything come up after we got home. Once I got my dog home, and her meds were wearing off, she was too mobile and difficult to keep settled, so she reopened her incision site. First thing in the morning, I called the office, let them know I was coming, was seen quickly when I arrived and she fixed her up good as new, and sent me home with some calming meds to try to get through the next few days without reopening any incisions so my doggie could heal properly. So - overall, I'm pleased with the improvement of this facility since Dr. Darch has left. I highly recommend Dr. Chavis. She was both professional, and personable, with a great bedside manner. She answered all my questions without making me feel stupid, or silly for being so worried. I hope to continue to be satisfied with this practice!
