We took our Boxer, Cassius, to Needham Animal Hospital following an emergency visit to the Animal and Emergency Trauma Hospital, where he had been diagnosed with pancreatitis. Being brand new to the area, and with a very sick pet, we had no idea which vet to go to for follow-up care. Dr. Simpson at AETH referred us to Needham Animal Hospital for further treatment. Once at Needham, we met with Dr.Karyn West, who assessed Cassius' situation. We explained to Dr. West that Cassius has had several health problems over the past 6 months, and provided her with detailed information regarding his past treatments and medications. She was extremely caring and concerned, going so far as to do research on her own time to try to determine what was going on with our dog; she also spoke on the phone with Cassius' prior vet in Pittsburgh, PA. Due to his symptoms, Dr. West was sure Cassius was suffering from either Cushing's Disease or Addison's Disease, and after performing a specific test, it was determined that he does indeed have Addison's Disease, which thankfully, is treatable with medication. Cassius needed to remain hospitalized for a few days, and while he was there, everyone involved was exceptionally kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and helpful. We were of course very upset to have Cassius be so ill, especially having just moved to the area, and being so far from his regular vet, but the entire staff took such an interest in his recovery, reassuring us, comforting us and calling to check on him after we brought him home. I must say we are completely baffled by the negative reviews of this hospital, as our beloved pet received nothing but top-notch treatment and care. We cannot say enough about Dr. West's integrity, knowledge, care and compassion....you and the entire staff have our sincere thanks!

The vets I dealt with were top-notch. They were personable and always very helpful. The care my dog was given kept me coming back. That being said, their front office needs some work. They cannot book appointments (i.e. I booked a 9:30 appointment and, after I arrived and waited half an hour, they told me I needed to leave my dog because she will not be seen until after 2:00) and are very slow no matter how busy they are. We have moved away but I would have kept going (and tolerated the front office) because the vets were very good.

Our family has used Needham Animal Hospital for at least 10 years and have only had positive experiences. They have been with us through illnesses and deaths of our dogs and have always been compassionate and supportive. Drs. Batts and Ford are well-trained, excellent diagnosticians. I have seen no other vets in the practice, so I can't speak to the others. I have noticed the front desk runs slowly, but I am more interested, ultimately, in the health and care of my dogs.

They treat me and my dog as a family unit. They work hard at the front with chaos of pets coming in and filling their needs. The rehab center probably saved my dog's life from obesity! Bless you all.

I did not like the vet at all who saw my sugar glider. My regular vet was out of town and I was sent to Needham because they were the only other place who saw exotics. He seemed to be annoyed I was there so late on a friday and didn't seem to care much about my glider, in fact, he seemed he had disdain for gliders in general. The techs were nice and they were nice enough to work with me since this was an emergency and I didn't have all the money. I didn't wait very long either. I have an appointment monday for a recheck but I will be canceling it as I got a hold of my regular vet and will be going to him instead. I would say this place is fair rather than poor. I really didn't like that vet.
