I am beyond upset with this office. Took my kitten here for his vaccines. He was a stray my sister found in her parking lot. First distemper went fine I thought, and I was told he was a little under weight but had a good heartbeat and his chest sounded good. Upon bringing him back for his second distemper, he was still only about 3.5 pounds. The vet on that day told me to give him more wet food and proceeded to give him his rabies and distemper shots. From the minute we got home, he was sluggish and different. Not the vivacious, active, playful little kitten he was before the visit. The next day was Friday and he was still not normal. He was drinking water a very little bit, and barely eating. I called them and was told "This can be normal, if it continues, just call back." He stayed sluggish all day Saturday and didn't want to be around people. Sunday afternoon I noticed he starting breathing through his mouth and tried calling the vet, which led me to an "emergency" referral system that told me, "Oh we can't tell you what to do, only give you numbers for a vet." So I called the numbers I was given and no one was in any office. Calling the number for Butler Vet said that any holiday closing would be posted on their Facebook. So I checked the Facebook hoping that there would be a notice if they would, in fact, be closed on Labor Day and there was no mention of this. Thinking they would be open for emergency services, if not at least for a while in the morning, I woke up early on Monday to see my poor kitten still struggling to breathe. I called Butler and again, NO ANSWER!! Just the referral system, who told me this time that the vet was out for Labor Day and I could leave a message to be returned on Tuesday, not offering any help or suggestion what to do. About a half hour later, my baby started making a terrible noise, had what appeared to be a seizure, and then he was gone. I was left with no answers, and no one to even ask what happened. I have spoken to several other offices about this and they agree that it was negligent to not have an emergency contact. My mothers vet gave her personal cell phone number to my mother when she was having trouble with one of her cats. The thing they all agree on was that he probably developed a slight URI and could have been helped if someone around here had answered the phone. Nothing will make this better, and nothing will bring my kitten back, but I will not let it go unknown. Not having a definitive emergency contact is one of the most irresponsible things I have ever seen from a medical office. Please keep this in mind if you are going to bring your pet here. If there is an emergency, you may be left out in the cold. Don't let it happen to your pet.
My mom took me there for a check-up when I turned 1. The hospital staff was extremely affable, and very well-educated. They discussed a lot of topics with my mom, giving her all the information that she needs in order to take great care of me. She would have otherwise received false information via internet searches. Dr. Garro was very gentle and knowledgeable, she did a comprehensive physical exam, and made proper recommendations based on her findings. She took the time to listen to my mom's concerns, unlike the other hospital I used to go to where they would rush through the entire appointment because they were too busy! The hospital was newly renovated, very clean and well-equipped. The waiting room was soothing and appeared very professional. I have going been there for the past 3 years, there has never been any chaos or run-ins with a distressed pet due to their highly effective scheduling. I highly recommend taking your pet to this practice.
I have followed Dr. Garro from practice to practice for years. So excited she finally has her own place! Her and her entire staff are professional and very helpful. She has seen my two pit bulls and two cats for years, along with several foster dogs along the way. She gives you all the information and all the options. She really cares about the animals. Her staff is very helpful as well. Three out of four of my animals have had surgeries and they have received the best care. I recommend them to everyone.
