We just lost our pet --- had to make the tough decision to put her to sleep. The staff could not have been more compassionate and thoughtful during this emotionally draining time. Not only have they taken care of our dogs for the last several years, they have ALWAYS been extremely sensitive to our emotional needs. Wish there were more vets like Dr. Maida and Dr.Izen --- you can't teach this stuff in veterinary school. Take your pets for wellness to these folks --- they are world class.
We took our pets here for years until our last dog passed away. The staff made no exception for our dog's situation - he had not eaten in days and was barely able to move around. We tried to reschedule our appointment to have him checked out sooner than later, but Closter made no exception to accommodate us. They also never recommended us to the nearby Oradell Animal Hospital, which offers 24 emergency care. Unfortunately, our dog did end up passing as he had cancer, so maybe there was nothing that could have been done to help him. But the memory of how unprofessional and the lack of courtesy the staff at Closter showed us remained. We now take our pets to Palisades Vet in Orangeburg, NY. Dr. Ean Bauer is the best, and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly.
couldn't agree more with the reviews below. they are terrible, clueless and only want your money. a waste of time, don't trust them with your beloved pets.
This animal hospital nearly killed my dog. Beware of this hospital; they are only out for the money. What a difference since they became VCA involved. Not the same Vet I have used for many years. Over vaccinated my dog and didn't even care. Do not over vaccinate your dog. Over 5 years of age your dogs do NOT to be vaccinated except for rabies. Read up on this it is very important for your dogs health. Stay away from this animal hospital find another!!!
The reception staff here is just incredibly rude - the DMV comparison is spot on. We are from the city, but my family is in the area, and when I came in to refill a prescription for my dog called in by my vet, they tried to charge me MORE than what my vet in Manhattan charges me for. They finally backed down when I took it up with them and offered me a "bulk" rate. Right. I'm back in the area this week and when I called in the prescription two days before and came to pick it up, they didn't have any record of it. The older woman got nasty with me, even though it was their inefficiency that has wasted my time. Whenever I bring in my parents' dog in, the vet always tries an upsell of some service or other - it's become a bad joke in my family. We will moving our dogs to Oradell Animal Hospital where we've heard very good things.
