This place was an absolute NIGHTMARE. We were lured in by the "low" cost of the visit. What a joke. That is merely the hook to get people in. My puppy had a swollen back paw. The vet walked in (after we'd been waiting nearly 40 minutes!) and with barely a hello to me and not even a preliminary pat on the head to my pup, she grabbed my puppy's foot, DRAGGED her across the table and proceeded to practically dangle her in the air by her injured foot. After a two second exam she said "It could be cancer, I don't know. It sort of feels like a malignant tumor". She stood there and said cancer about ten times, going over all the ways people can think their dog has a random infection and it's cancer. Over and over and over. Then she said "Think about what you want to do b/c cancer takes down dogs fast ", she shrugged and left the room. Not long after the vet tech walks in and gives us a run down of all the tests to "check for cancer". The bill was to be more than $500. There were three tests on the bill, plus lab fees, two different kinds of sedatives and a brand new anti biotic shot that lasts for two weeks. My husband and I were stunned. Our daughter was in tears. We left immediately and went to our regular vet where we should have gone in the first place. It turns out the puppy had a sliver in her paw. The vet got it out, treated the wound, wrapped it and gave us an anti biotic and a pain med. All for UNDER $200. I asked him if it was possibly cancer. He laughed a little and said "This is a classic presentation of an infected puncture wound. It's not cancer." The vet at Banfield was clearly doing nothing but using scare tactics to get us to pay for all the unnecessary tests and medication only so we could find out that our puppy had a sliver. Unethical, unprofessional, and unfriendly. DO NOT GO HERE. Madison Vet Hospital in Madison New Jersey is world class. Save yourself the hassle and the heartache, avoid Banfield and "Dr." Debra Morris. Charlatan if ever I've seen one.
