Madison hospital has caring vets, and good service, but be prepared for lots of hidden charges and extra efforts to sell up services. We get shocked every time we take our dog there. This last time, our dog had an ear infection. This happens about once a year and usually runs about $125 our so for the examination and medication. This time it, inexplicably, the price jumped to $278! So here is what happens. The doctor tells you everything under the sun they want to do and hope that you just say "ok" because you think everything is included, but it isn't, and they will never tell you how much everything costs. Until the very end. This is not a case of you get what you pay for or nothing is too good for my pet, it is a sham, plain and simple. This is not premium service, it is a rip-off. Others my be comfortable getting taken advantage of because they are under the false impression that they must be getting something out of it, but all they are getting is robed by friendly, well trained vets-they just cannot comprehend what has happened to them either because they are either all wraped up in their pet or just too rich to notice the bill. BEWARE OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT-GO AT YOUR OWN RISK, QUESTION EVERY CHARGE AND PROCEDURE, ASK HOW MUCH EVERYTHING COSTS UP FRONT OR YOU WILL BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. ANYTHING OVER $200 GET A SECOND OPINION.
The level of professionalism and the care the animals receive is very good; but the charges for your visit are outrageous! Be prepared to spend several hundred to over a $1000 depending on the service. The hospital is fully staffed, well equipped and professional; but I wonder if so many people (i.e. salaries) are needed. You are paying for all the employees and the facility. They appear to run every conceivable test that is on the market to get a full health profile of your animal; this is very costly and probably not necessary. Be careful for what is being tested and question all charges! If you just need routine care you might want to look elsewhere; for specialized care they are very good.
I have been going for years. I have my 3rd dog now under this vet group. I have seen all the vets and like all of them. While through the years, I have found out that if I ask for prices and what options I could proceed with, I would get a full and thorough talk through of options and prices. I have always felt I had top quality care and a thorough evaluation. When I had a dog that seemed to have chronic ear infections Dr. VanBeveren worked with us until we came with a preventative regimen that solved the continuing ear infections. I am also pleasantly surprised with the recent pricing as there are more bundled packages at very reasonable prices. My senior dog got a bundled package of a senior bloodwork, exam, urine analysis, and panel of x-rays that was a very reasonable price. I got pricing up front. I am very pleased, as my impression is that they are really trying to work with the customer's needs. 5 stars from me for value and quality care and kudos for listening to the customers!!
Stay away! Every time I visited Madison Animal Hospital I had an unpleasant experience. Either they tried to charge me for items I did not request, or the staff in the front desk was rude, or they insisted on performing many additional tests to my dog that were totally unneccesary. Once, they made a mistake with the timing of a vaccine, and had to give my dog an extra shot of the vaccine. In addition to making the mistake, they tried to charge me for both the additional shot of vaccine and a standard physical exam (weight and temperature, that is all they do). As usual, they were not straightforward about the mistake and extra charges, but tried to do it in a very dishonest way. I definitively do not recommend taking your pet there and no longer take my dog there.
absolutely horrible. They charge ridiculous prices, make you come make multiple times for procedures that should all be accomplished in a single visit. And care for the animals very poorly. I had a simple yearly checkup that they charged over a thousand dollars for, and caused a severe hematoma and nerve damage to my yorkie from improperly taking a blood sample. they are the worst I have ever experienced or heard of.
