A real emergency veterinary hospital with an excellent staff. They always work with your primary vet in order to achieve the best outcome for your pet. We always take our pets to their primary vet and if a diagnosis is critical the hospital we are referred to is Oradell. When you have an emergency in the middle of the night this is where you want to bring your beloved pet! My wife and I made many such trips to Oradell's ER with our beloved pets, Sophie & Rusty. Sophie had a bout of ITP where she was near death and was saved by Oradell's physicians when the hospital was on Kinderkermack Rd. Later Sophie developed collapsing trachea and the staff at Oradell at the new location in Paramus informed us that she needed a tracheal stent placed. Needless to say the team of doctors at Oradell saved her again. Sophie was a 4.5 lb Pomeranian who periodically had health problems and the doctors at Oradell always pulled her through. Our other Pomeranian Rusty was a bit larger at 11 lbs and was rarely sick, but on one occasion develop[ed a problem with his gall bladder which had burst and needed emergency surgery. Again the doctors at Oradell worked their miracles! Rusty lived to be 17 and Sophie lived to be 16! Dr Kristi Gannon is an angel! I will never forget all she did for Sophie and Rusty! God Bless you Dr Gannon. Another wonderful doctor which comes to mind is Dr Cortes, Thank you! Yes, Oradell is a bit expensive but as they say! You get what you pay for.
I recently visited Oradell for my beloved Mushie who fell ill on us after a beautiful 15 years. They were nothing short of professional and so sensitive with us. From the reception to the doctors, they treated Mushie as one of our family members (which she absolutely was) and were so kind to us during such a difficult time. I can not express enough thanks to Oradell and all their staff for treating our little baby with such care and even in her final moments with us, they were professional and gave us the best service possible. Our doctor was so kind and loving, she was informative but sensitive to our situation. I would absolutely recommend Oradell and have recommended them already to anyone in need of just a regular visit or emergency visit for a beloved pet. The facility is comfortable, organized and super clean. Once again, thank you so much for all your help, your kindess and your support.
I took my dog here after she had spinal surgery for rehab medical boarding. The first day the rehab doctor called and was a total sweetheart describing everything she did for her and the entire session. She told me she was only there on Tuesdays and would come up with a regimen for the other doctors to perform and someone would call me with an update every day. Only 1 other doctor has called me and he was a weekend doctor. Every time I call they tell me "she's resting comfortably, no change". The front desk is very rude. I went to visit her and they told me I was only allowed to see her for 15 minutes, plus you have to be pre-scheduled to even come to visit. I'm the one paying them $250 a day! When I asked why only 15 minutes they said that's what the doctor put. I ask to speak with a doctor and they say none are available and the one that wrote that already left. When I finally saw my dog she was skin and bones and looked miserable. I brought her favorite treats she took from me without a problem right after surgery but now a week and a half later wont eat them. She was completely out of it and at one point was just crying. She was supposed to start her water therapy the next day and no one called me to let me know how it went. When I called them they told me she was "resting comfortably and no change". I flipped out and said I demand someone call me back with more information. The lady at the front desk said she understood my frustration but she couldn't do anything for me and no one else could come to the phone. She said she would have someone call me back ASAP. It's been 20 hours and still no phone call. I'm going back to pull her out of there tonight.
They're a rip off and they take any pet in the emergency room to make money but they don't have the pet examined by a specialist, my parakeet was gasping for air and sick and the vet who saw my parakeet was smiling and told me that my parakeet bit her and that she didn't see any signs of illness in her. She suggested a blood test for $200 which I declined. She prescribed an antibiotic and sent my ill parakeet home. The vet was not an avian vet and knew nothing about birds apparently. My parakeet died two days later. I complained to the Director of the hospital about the incompetence of the vet who saw my parakeet, after five phone calls to the Director, she called me back and defended the vet and was totally unsympathetic to my loss. I will never take any pets there. They're a rip off and have incompetent veterinarians. That was my own bad experience. My poor parakeet was only one year old and she didn't get the chance to get well because of the misjudgement and misdiagnosis of a incompetent veterinarian in such a prestigious hospital.
I have been taking my pets to Oradell Animal Hospital for over 25 years and I have had my ups and downs but one thing is for sure, they are the best Vets around here. Because of my work, I am well acquainted with most of the Veterinarians in Bergen County and, when my pets are in trouble, I take them to Dr. DeVries for diagnosis. I have three little rescue dogs and I depend on less expensive local doctors for shots and antibiotics etc, but when my animals are sick I scrape the $$$ together to go to the best doctors and facilities. Once and a while they get over excited and order test that are a bit excessive, but that is true of most places. Bottom line? If my dog is diagnosed with cancer, cushings or any other serious condition I am headed for Oradell or AMC for the best specialists.
