Six months ago I adopted two small adult dogs from AWA. My intention was to adopt one but AWA was eager to keep them together since they'd been bonded all their lives. AWA worked with me on their adoption rate so I could take both. Staff cried and hugged me for keeping them together. Weeks later one dog's spade scar was infected. The AWA Clinic saw her ASAP. I wasn't happy that my dog was taken into another room for evaluation and treatment while I was left in the waiting room but, they treated her and the infection cleared up without any problem. My dogs are happy, healthy, and filled with spirit. AWA does good work and is a wonderful place to find the next member of your family.
This is a wonderful no-kill shelter which works hard to provide for the animals in their care. They can always use help volunteering and fostering the animals there.
i cant beleive i give these people 40.00 a month for donations & when it comes to me giving away my pet i got no help at all. screw you guys. you'll never see a penny from me again
WILL GET INFECTION!!!!!! Do not send your animal here for treatment. Appointment system is drawn out, too many procedures planned for one day, and facilities are not clean! The money saved was spent(and then some!), on emergency animal hospital bill, due to complications on my animal's surgery. She was sent home too soon and due unsanitary procedures/conditions, she had an infection within 24hrs of surgery. Called the emergency number and explained that my pet had no appetite, a lack of motor functions, and 104 temperature, only to be told "give her McDonald's burger.... That will get her eating and back to normal." This place might be a good shelter, but far from a good place to get any procedures done!
to adopt. I 13 and I am volenteering their with my mom and they treat the animals nice. The want them to be adopted so the dont only put 1 pic up but 3 and a video. I love animals and the have larger than average crates and kennels they have worthy staff and don't listen to the person that say dog got an infection my dog and cats both went there and they are fine.
