Desert Hills is fabulous. I took my elderly dog to them and they managed to clip all of her nails without hitting the quick, which had been a big problem for us at other places. Unfortunately, she passed a few weeks ago. I recently adopted another dog from the ABQ shelter, and the poor thing is still pretty terrified of people and reacting aggressively. I warned them about it in advance and they started throwing treats to her literally from the minute she walked in the door. By the time we had left, she was friendly with two techs and the vet! They also encouraged me to bring her by for more treats, anytime. I know a lot of places would have just muzzled her and got on with it, but they really took their time to help with her issues rather than to traumatize her further, and I'm very thankful for that. My only wish is that their hours were expanded a bit as unfortunately when my elderly dog got sick I ended up taking her to a vet open on weekends and then the emergency clinic right before she passed, and I feel things would have went better for both her and I if I could have brought her to Desert Hills.

This review is regarding Drs. Trulinger, Wiliams, and Smith. I took my dog in for a routine dental exam and cleaning. I mentioned to Dr. Williams that he had been acting lethargic for a few weeks, and so she suggested we order pre-dental bloodwork. As it turned out, he had anemia from blood loss. Dr. Williams then suggested an Xray, which in fact showed his spleen was enlarged. She discussed the various possibilities and prognoses with me, and made sure I was referred that day to VCA Animal Hospital; as in she personally called and set up an appointment. Wow. The dog had a biopsy and ultrasound, that were not really conclusive as to what the mass was, so surgery was recommended. Dr. Williams talked with Drs. Smith and Trulinger, and they had my dog in for surgery within a few days. The procedure went smoothly, and he was home that same day. They did an excellent job with his surgery. Dr. Smith even called a couple times in the following few days to check in and make sure my dog was doing ok. From diagnostics, to surgery, to follow up, service was excellent all around. And their staff are always friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend Desert Hills to friends/family and have in fact already done so.

Jennifer is amazing. The whole staff was incredibly friendly and caring. It was also a calm atmosphere. We have two dogs and we loved the care. Your babies will be in good hands here:)

We have been taking our pets to Jennifer Smith for almost two years. We've had pets for many years and have seen many vets. Jennifer and her staff are the cream of the crop. They provide professional service and genuinely care about the pets and their human clientele. We love this clinic so much that we drive an extra distance to take our pets there! Plus, the prices are reasonable. We can't recommend Desert Hills Animal Clinic highly enough!
