We were making one of frequent visits to Albuquerque and our 16 year old Schnauzer wasn't doing very well. On September 3, 2014, we took Doogie Schnauzer to the Coronado Pet Hospital. He had a severe neural disorder and was too frail to be sedated. It was his time. We discussed euthanasia with Dr Jennifer Smith, who had a wonderful and kind bedside manner. We made an appointment to return two days later. I've never euthanized a pet. I feared for the worse. I had knots in my stomach. My wife's mom said to ask the vet again if this was the right chose. When the vet came in, I was choking back tears and my wife asked the question for me. The vet confirmed it was his time. Doogie never left my sight for one second at the vet. The veterinarian assistant hit his vein the first time without even a flinch. Dr Smith asked if I wanted to hold him in my lap instead of the table. I did. He laid in my lap as the sedative was administered. In less than one minute, he passed feeling the soft petting and love from wife and me. I am deeply grateful to everyone at the Coronado Pet Hospital for their caring and support. It was one of the most difficult decisions I've had to make and they helped me along the way.
I was extremely happy with Coronado Pet Hospital in Rio Rancho, New Mexico when having my Great Pyrenees spayed. Dr. Michael Melloy is the absolute Best. If you want an extremely caring veterinarian, Dr. Melloy is the one you need to see. The techs, nurses and complete staff are excellent. I cannot say enough great things about Coronado Pet Hospital - it is super clean, very neat and organized. The staff is awesome and it is not a chaotic zoo when you are in there. And you do not have to wait an eternity to get helped. This pet hospital is the Best in New Mexico. Take your pet there - you will be glad you did! Patti Schrunk
Dr Melloy and the team at El Rincon were great from setting the same day appointment right through checkout everything was great! The tech who did preliminary exam with the dog handled her well and made the process painless for all involved, including what must have been a very unpleasant taking of the dogs temperature. Dr Melloy came in for the actual exam and made the dog feel comfortable and so relaxed she didn't even flinch during her shots. All in all a great visit, I am looking forward to my relationship with my new neighborhood vet.
Dr malloy did a miracle removing the eye on our guinea pig who was 8 and lived. Always helpful with our dogs too
