my 3 yr old flame point Siamese ( Nutter Butter) suddenly became sick on 1-18-15 with 106 temp and wbc of 43,000. I didn't know where to go, so a friend mentioned a vet and we went. the first thing this vet did was show us a computer monitor that has all kinds of procedures. This vet then stated it would be over 800.00 to try and find out the problem. I explained I was out of work and could not afford that. but my nutters life was important to me. I paid for the blood tests to rule out felv-fiv and was handed Nutter back. Nutter continued to get sicker. I contacted the spca from where i adopted Nutter from and explained my situation. They even told me if i couldn't afford vet care then most likly Nutter would get sick and pass away. This is when I found VCA black mountain. Dr.Winn and staff are awesome, after he saw Nutter he stated Nutter needed to be treated overnight and that we could work something out with payment plans. It broke my heart to leave Nutter but I felt he was in safe hands. VCA black mountain got nutters temp and wbc down and he was safe to come home with us along with antibiotics in a day and a half. Nutter had been improving day by day and VCA black mountain call and check on him. In my book they are trusted, caring people and when Nutter is done with his antibiotics, we are going back for a complete physical and I'm bringing his brother.

The staff always goes out of their way to spoil me and my family. A little hectic at times but you really feel like your in a family enviroment. Very laid back. Love it.

I just took my small 3 month old kitten here. I never write bad reviews but this place needs one. The vet did not care about my animal at all. She also brought in a shot saying my kitty needs a shot when she is up to date with all her shots, she actually picked it up like she was going to do it without my consent!! Then she tried taking her temperature so she sticks the freaking thermometer up her up butt for a longer time than normal and she didn't even get the right temperature she said "I'm just gonna say 101)! Their receptionist is allergic to cats.... that's a little weird if you work at an ANIMAL HOSPITAL she made me feel like my kitty was filthy! She also didn't even tell me my kitty's weight. I was about to leave her at the hotel boarding for a couple hours after all of that I am never going back here again. They def do not care about the animals feelings or yours. They will def use tactics and unnecessary things just to run your bill up! Since your 1st visit is free they will try ANYTHING very pushy! I picked a feeling they were kinda upset I walked out for free! Maybe they have more vets there that are nicer but this was my experience with the VCA!

My 7 mo old mini schnauzer jumped over the toddler gate on my stairs and broke both front legs. We immediately brought him to an emergency vet to get him meds ($207.00) to keep him comfortable throughout the night until the morning, as they did not have an orthopedic vet on staff. They recommended we take him to Tropicana Animal Hospital as they are the least expensive, and I did not qualify for carecredit. BOLOGNA!!! I brought my baby in around 8:00 a.m, and left him there to do x-rays with sedation so he'd be more comfortable ($197.00). I received a call about an hour later stating my puppy would need plates in both legs as there were multiple fractures in each. The vet said she did not have plates small enough for his little legs but she would make some calls to see if she can find a specialist that would. She said the surgery would cost nothing less than 2-3 thousand dollars. I definitely don't have that kind of $ laying around so I got extremely emotional as I know he was hurting, and scared. I then asked what my other options were? She told me to come pick him up and we could discuss that. When I got there and went in the room to speak with her she brought my puppy in and basically said if I could not afford surgery I needed to seriously consider putting him down. This women was looking at my dog like he was already deceased. It broke my heart! I got hysterical and asked her how I could willingly put a perfectly healthy puppy down (besides his injury). Her response was "I'm sorry last time I helped somebody, and did a payment plan for them he never paid me. I've been burned so I just won't go out on a limb for anyone anymore. You can try and find a place that will do pro bono work but I won't. Take your puppy home and make him comfortable, give him a lot of affection, and when you're ready bring him back". Seriously if I hadn't been so wrapped up in my puppy at the moment, and the thought of losing him I would have lost it on her. She had no reason at all to tell me that she could potentially help me but chose not to. I did not expect anything for free! How insensitive!!! My mom happened to call on my drive home. She heard that I was distraught and decided to make some calls. She called me back with amazing news. She had called Black Mountain Animal Hospital, explained my situation, and they said to bring him in immediately. So, that is exactly what I did. Not only was the staff caring and compassionate but their vet was nothing short of amazing! Dr. Winn took x-rays of my puppy came in and gave us his recommendations, as well as options. He casted up little Ozzy, and watched him over the next 48 hrs. Needles to say my puppy is home and happy. A little uncomfortable obviously bc he can not really walk. I am elated to know that there are still amazing people out there. Truly doing their job from the love in their heart! My bill was not crazy expensive and they allowed me to make payments. My family and I will forever be greatful!!
