My family has been going to Dr. Altom for years and now Dr. Baggett also, so when my new SPCA dog injured himself 3 weeks after we adopted him, I chose North Hills because of my family's history, although I knew my dog needed to see an experienced Doctor or orthopedic specialist for his injury. North Hills Veterinary Clinic got us in with almost no notice to see Dr. Baggett and he was able to confirm that Desmond slipped a disc in his lumbar region, which is what I suspected and had been devastated about due to the cost, possibility of surgical treatment and long, difficult recovery. As a single mom and one income household, the costs for treating a back injury were intimidating. Dr. Baggett was able to diagnose Desmond and determine that medical, non-surgical treatment was possible, and did not require expensive radiographs or a myelogram, which was a huge relief. Had I rushed my dog to the emergency hospital, I would have had to pay triple what I paid at North Hills before a referral to an orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Baggett is a veterinarian who clearly cares about his clients and wants to find the best possible solution, putting the least amount of financial burden on families. I highly recommend North Hills Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Altom and Dr. Baggett have treated nearly a dozen of my family's animals and now I will not consider taking my newest kid anywhere else.
My pets are family and I take my responsibility as their guardian and protector seriously. Since moving to Reno ten months ago, Dr. Baggett has taken care of the medical needs of my beloved pets. I have two older dogs and have rescued two younger dogs who had some serious medical problems when I adopted them. During the past ten months I have had to euthanize one of my senior dogs and the other three have had surgeries for cysts, melanomas, injury and a malformed and infected digit. The other senior dog has liver disease and at 14 years old, has age related health matters. Of course, there is also the regular maintenance of vaccines and healthy dog check ups for all of them. Dr. Baggett has seen us through it all. While never losing sight of the patient, Dr. Baggett has been gentle, thorough, and generous in sharing his knowledge and expertise. He listens carefully to me not only with regard to symptomatology, but also with regard for my thoughts and feelings concerning medical necessity, quality of life and end of life decisions. His priority is the best interest of my pets and we are partners in achieving that goal. My beloved dogs and I have found a competent, caring, and skilled professional in Dr. Baggett and you, too will find the same in this stellar veterinarian and wonderful human being. Patti M.
I've taken my dog to these vets four times now and I'm unimpressed. I changed vets because I moved out into the valleys and it's convenient. I think I will give up my Saturdays now and take them to more experienced, qualified, and caring vets in Reno or Sparks. My dog still has the same problem she had six months ago. I let the vet know what I thought she had during the last visit I had and he said, "No I don't think so." He gave me some antibiotics that worked but it came right back. When I went in for a follow up, he told me she probably has what I mentioned I thought she had the last time I was there. So far I've seen two of the vets in this office and I'm going to take my dogs elsewhere. I'm just not happy with these vets. I think they are more concerned about money than the dogs.
So very supportive during the cancer of a beloved cat. When the inevitable "put down" had to be faced, I got a lovely rainbow bridge card with all the staff signatures. They had followed up with my plea to make sure he won't be afraid and then made everything easy.
Don't ever bring your animals here. The doctors are uneducated or inexperienced. Wait times are inexcusable. Basically just a glorified shot clinic.
