More than 20 years ago, I was fortunate to find Dr. Saslow and the Baldwin Animal Hospital for my past and present dogs. I have had many good experiences, but would like to present my greatest experience - Dr. Saslow saved my dog's life in October, 2013. Jerry was acting strange, couldn't seem to move, and was hyperventilating, just minutes after chasing squirrels around the yard. When I called the office, I was immediately taken in and told the doctor was in surgery. The staff quickly realized that this was an emergency, and in no time Jerry was x-rayed, medicated for pain. Several staff members were surrounding Jerry, comforting him. I was quickly told that Jerry was critical - a tumor in his spleen had ruptured and he was bleeding internally. Jerry needed surgery, and Dr. Saslow told me that this type of surgery often does not have a good outcome. Dr. Saslow remained in touch with me several times that day and even called me after hours to tell me that Jerry was doing his usual singing (Jerry likes to howl, often, for no apparent reason.) Not only did he do well, he was attempting to chase squirrels again 3 days after surgery and it was difficult to get him to rest! I commend Dr. Saslow for his honesty, his surgical expertise, and his vast knowledge of veterinary medicine. He is always kind, and his staff is always accommodating. They are affectionate with the animals, have laughed and cried with me over the years, and the majority of his staff has been with him for several years, which in itself speaks volumes. 3+ months later, Jerry is still chasing squirrels!

Very friendly, clean, professional, these are probably the best veterinary doctors I have been to and I have seen many. Totally qualified and will give you a CORRECT diagnosis every time. I totally recommend this hospital to any pet owner

This place caters to people who like being surrounded by ingratiating staff, unfortunately there professionalism does not necessarily extend to their knowledge on common medical issues that plague so many of todays pets such as allergies. For exampe, after notifying the employees that my dog suffers from allergies, Dr. Saslow tried to sell me a flea prevention product when most vets and vetinary books suggest stopping these products until the pets health improves. Furthermore, she is a small 5 pound indoor white dog which is easy to see does not suffer from any fleas. Then he encouraged me to try Hills Prescription Diet when studies demonstrate that this food is inadequate for maintaing dogs health and if my memory serves me correctly, also contains corn which is known food to cause difficulty in allergic dogs. My favorite part was when he took her in another room to run tests on an ear infection so he could provide her with the correct treatment which turned out to be a broadspectrum bacteria/yeast. Really? Couldn't he have swabbed the ear and done the culture afterward like most vets do? hmmm... The favorite was the large bill. Wait, did i mention the ear infection came back a week later? I got Zymox ftreatment rom Amazon for 9 dollars and she has been great for months.

Instead of treating my 13 yr old peeka-poo like he was already dead (as other vets did), he got right down to the heart of the matter, with a proper diagnonsis. Everyone else tried to put an expiration date on my dog, this vet did not. Additionally, the vet himself called me to inform me of his diagnosis and waited patiently for me to understand all of the facts, as well as medications I would now use to treat my dog. The staff is incredibly attentive, helpful and sweet, that includes everyone from the receptionist, to the vet tech to the vet himself!!! I'm so grateful to have found this practice, thank you!!!!
