As a first-time pet owner, I had a list of questions to ask the vet the first time I took my rescued kitten and the nurses and Dr. Sousa patiently answered them all. They have always been accommodating, friendly and you can tell that they genuinely care about the work they do. Another big plus: when I have to board my cat there ($15 a day), she never comes back nervous, rowdy or agitated. A wellness exam is about $30, $3 medical waste charge, distemper is $16, so the prices are reasonable. The downtown location (right, and I mean right, off the 33 in downtown Buffalo) is incredibly convenient, as well. I am so glad I found McClelland and will take my cat here as long as I'm in Buffalo.
We recently moved to Buffalo and had been taking our small herd to another vet nearby. When one of our cats got sick with an upper respiratory infection, we knew he had to be seen that day based on previous infections or it would be pneumonia by the next morning. The vet could not see him for two and a half days so we called McClelland and they saw us that same day, even though we weren't their patients. Well, we are now because the visit was great. The staff was friendly and listened to our pet's issues and addressed our concerns in a more than timely manner (which is more than can be said for our previous vet).
A+++++ AMAZING. Dr. Souza and staff is amazing. I would highly recomend this vet to anyone out there. I moved from the city to the suburbs and bring my two dogs the 30 minutes for each visit. Everyone is very comforting and supportive. They have a real interest in the dogs. Dogs are just not a number! I think they do a great job explaining procedures and best options! I have had no issue with pricing and they are very careful to give you differnt options. I would never consider taking my dogs to anyone else! RM Amherst, NY
I've been to many vets in my lifetime. Some care, some are smart, some are close and some are inexpensive. McClelland is the BEST! That's why it is the oldest vet in Buffalo. There's usualy "NO WAIT", the waiting room is uncrowded, they care unconditionally and they know everything that a vet should and are constanlty learning the latest and greatest medicine.
Dr. Matthew Souza and his excellent staff are extremely knowledgable, compassionate and kind. I have been very, very impressed with the veterinary services at McClelland Small Animal Hospital and my beautiful dog has gotten exceptionally good care, even now, when she is in her last illness. They all know her name and handle her with gentleness and empathy. Prices are very reasonable. An excellent small animal hospital and veterinary office. Contact them with confidence that your pet (bird, fish, cat or ferret, dog, hamster or badger) will be treated very, very well, indeed.
