For routine animal care, ie yearly shots, general examinations or dental services, they are very good and their prices very reasonable. I couldn't recommend them more highly, although be forewarned, the practice is an old one and the hours of operation are limited. However, the staff is genuine and caring and the vet is very nice and gives a thorough examination without insisting on all kinds of expensive (and probably unnecessary) tests. The practice is very limited (she doesn't do surgeries which require overnight stays) and if you have a serious emergency or your pet needs hospitalization, you will need to go elsewhere. For routine care however, save yourself some cash and go here. I really hope the vet expands her practice because she's very good with animals.

These guys are really great! I've taken my dogs there for nail trimmings and I'm always impressed by how much they actually care for animals. Strange that's not more common among people working in animal clinics, but it just isn't!

unfortunately my american pit bull was attacked by another and he had a big laceration to his ear that same night i brought him into a 24 hr vet on 55th street in Manhattan and they wanted to charge me $1300.00 for cleaning the wound, putting him to sleep and stitches. I thought this was outrageous and was unable to pay such an amount but they gladly gave my dog some antibiotics and pain reliever just to hold him over for the night , I then brought my dog into Washington Heights Animal Hospital without an appointment in the morning and they excepted him in. The place was very busy through out the day, it does look a little under kept but the service was pretty great. The only thing was since I came in without and appointment I had to wait until everyone else was done which is understandable I waited about 4 hrs. The older man that is mentioned as the primary vet named Stanley has passed away but the woman who is there now is young and great with animals. I was pleased with what they did and everything cost me $400 exact. This included doc visit fee of $50 blood work was $65 because he is older then 5 years old and couldn't be put under without knowing if his kidneys function correctly. All shots were around 80 surgery and anesthesia were 225 and 60. Well compared to 1300.00 this was great! Bottom line would i bring my dog back here for any other things absolutely. I agree. This place is very affordable. They care about treating your pet. I took our cat to another place. They misdiagnosed her diarrhea and gave her all kinds of shots, and meds which made her diarrhea worse. They also insisted that there was no way should could have had worms. We ended up with a bill that was over $300.00. I went to the Washington Heights Animal Hospital. They gave us some affordable advice on how to treat our cat and offered to check her stool sample for $15.00. Sure enought our cat has roundworms and they charged us another $15.00 for her meds. She was diagnosed and treated for $30.00 total. What a difference. She is doing fine now. I strongly recommend this place.

Took my dog to him for Kennel Cough that has struck Washington Heights this spring. It cost me total for his meds and exam 90 dollars. Other dog owners at my dog run have bills nearing 1,000 dollars because of this epidemic. He seems to really be doing this for the dogs. Not trying to profit on our misery.
