Dr. Alario came highly recommended by some friends and blew my expectations away. I have used many vets in the past and I finally feel I found a keeper. Dr. Alario met with my new pooch and I for over 30 minutes (you don't see this anywhere in healthcare) and went over the process with the shots, type of food to switch too, potty training tips etc. On top of that, his staff is amazing, literally when you walk in the door they know your dog like it is their own, so refreshing!!!! After reading the reviews on here, I thought I was bringing my dog to a vet that only wants to upsell me, but that is just not the case. Dr Alario treats you like family and is always on call if you need him. I highly recommend using Syosset Animal Hospital!

I brought my 12 year old cat in about a month ago who wasn't looking right and found out she had late stage kidney failure. I initially saw Dr. Plunkett, who admitted her to the hospital, and also interacted with Dr. Gothelf during her stay. The doctors were so helpful and caring toward Sadie and walked me through everything that needed to be done step by step. After treatment for a week at the hospital, I was able to bring her home. The technicians and Dr. Plunkett showed me and my husband how to give fluid therapy at home and let us practice before we left. We give Sadie her treatments three times per week and she continues to do well and is a very happy cat. Thank you to the staff at Syosset Animal Hospital for saving our Sadie!!

I brought my dog in to see the vets because he was having stomach issues. After x-rays we were told that he would need surgery. My wife and I were given an estimate of approximately $2500 when we were in the vet and we were told they would call us that evening with the exact price. They called that evening and we were told $2688 for the surgery and recovery care. My wife asked if the price could go up at all and they said, that it would likely go down because they always over estimate the medication and likely would not need that much. After the surgery was completed we spoke to the Vet's office every day for the next 4 days and we even visited with Mickey while he was recovering and nobody once ever mentioned that the bill had gone up. When the day came that we were told Mickey, our dog, was ready to go home we were then told the bill was over $3800. Left with no choice but to pay the bill or not get my dog back we were forced to settle with the vet. After picking up the dog and reviewing the bill not only did they take advantage of us by jacking up the price they also padded the bill with unnecessary items. One such item was special dog food we were told he needed for 2 weeks and come to find out they put 4 weeks worth of food on the bill and made us by it. We were told one estimate then we were quoted an exact price and nobody ever called to tell us the price went up or ask permission to do an additional $1000 worth of stuff. The vet also told us after the fact that Mickey didn't need to stay as long as he did but that the other partners at the animal hospital always like to do that to get more money from their clients. Had we known it was going to be that much money we would have taken him to a different vet and we absolutely would not have had him stay there to 'recover' for 4 days when he could have been home and we could have been doing the same thing. We have since asked three separate vets about this experience and they each told us that they completely took advantage of us and that the price was drastically increased was a complete scam and should not have happened. The whole experience was closer to a hostage situation and robbery then it was to a medical visit.

Do not bring your animal here. They hard sell you to do unnessesary things to your pet. Then guilt you if you dont. Its truly a business at this hospital
