Last Thurday, our group home cat, Onyx, was taken in after suddenly not being able to move its hind quarters. She was in obvious pain, and the towel she was laying on was bloody - so the vet (Dr. Dodge) diagnosed her as having a UTI and sent her home with oral antibiotics to take twice daily. Onyx lay suffering for almost 3 days, and I finally took her to the emergency vet in Baldwinsville who did what SHOULD have been done in the 1st place - x-rayed her, and diagnosed her with two fractures of the left rear femur. She's on pain control now, and is starting the healing process. Why Town & Country would assume that a cat presenting with blood and pain in the hind quarters would necessarily be a UTI, without checking for physical trauma, is beyond me. I very much question the positive reviews on this site. I had the unfortunate experience to take a different cat to T&C a few years ago, and Dr. Dodge was rude and condescending, and I vowed I would never go there again (Onyx was not taken to T&C by me). They are the closest vet to our group homes in the valley, but we will be taking our cats elsewhere in the future - for their sakes.
Had a cat that needed some teeth extracted and was referred to this hospital because of its low prices. But you get what you pay for. They never sutured the gums, so months after the surgery, open abscesses remain where the teeth were and the cat needs monthly doses of antibiotics because of the infection. Didn't give any post-operative pain medication either. It would probably have been cheaper to pay a more expensive clinic and not have to buy the antibiotics. If you care about your pet, please go elsewhere for their comfort and well-being.
Dr.Jensen was recommended for my two senior cats. I was very impressed at her ability to consider their age and what measures would help them stay healthy, without numerous useless tests and visits. She was also able to diagnose an eye condition our previous vet could not identify.
Since 1990, I have taken all my pets to Dr. Dodge and have been more than happy with his compassion and professionalism. His staff is friendly and courteous, and I have taken my macaws, canary, cats, and my dog to him, all treated with the compassion I have not seen in other Vets before him. Dr. Jensen operated on my Canary who had a large lump above his tail many years ago. A Canary weighs only a couple of ounces. Tweety was returned to me singing happily and no more lump. My precious senior cat needed to be put to sleep as she had severe intestinal problems. Dr. Dodge gave her a shot as I held her and she was put to her final rest peacefully and compassionately. Most recently I took my Beagle to Dr. Dodge as he seemed to be having hip problems and I was extremely upset that he had the worst of dysplasia, Dr. Dodge examined him gently and informed me that my beagle had a pulled muscle, which he prescribed pain meds for. My beagle began to jump and run as before after a few days of the meds and today back to his old self. As an animal activist and a lifelong student of Avian and Animal Husbandry, I have always strongly recommended Town and Country to everyone I know for their compassion towards all of our creatures, big and small, flight or paws.
Awful! Recently, my dog was hit by a car, and I took him in for his broken arm. We paid at least $400 that day just to wake up the next morning and find that his paw was swollen bigger than a softball and split open leaking, immediately we took him back which Dodge simply looked at it and said "Yeah, that cast was put on too tight." We weren't even in the room for 10 minutes! We spent another $175 because of their mistake! Then on his weekly check cast come to find out he needed a new cast, again for another $100, then the next week $75 and then the next $45. Every time we went something was wrong with his cast in a matter of four weeks he had 3 different casts. Each time the doctors hadn't even looked at him for more than 10 minutes before deciding he need something else. Each time dragging, literally, my terrified dog into the back. Usually, it was the female doctor. Never taking him back there.
