Adopted a puppy that was infected with roundworm and giardia. After reaching out to the executive director to no avail, we disputed the $300 adoption fee (thank god I paid with credit). After $250 in vet bills we have a healthy happy addition to our family. It's been weeks and I still haven't heard back from them after leaving several messages and sending several emails.
I went there with my wife looking to adopt a dog. we were looking at this 7 month Shepard. she was a little aggressive with our two dogs. and we looked at this beagle lab mix who is a sweet heart. well we got her but we were told to bring in our other two dogs to make sure that they get along well they really are concerned with the well being of the dogs that they let go to their future homes and ask my wife and I questions. we are happy with having a new member to our family and will continue to go back to make future purchases. i.e. dog food etc. they are not pushy to get dogs out the door. the staff I know volunteer and they work hard too I had a great experience
I think the people who complain about service here either have problems themselves, or don't realize that a lot of the people working in this store are VOLUNTEERS and doing this because they love ANIMALS... they are not paid to cater to your attitude and frankly, with as busy as this place is, it's obvious to me that they're doing a good job and have made many fans. The store is clean and aesthetically pleasing to look at and it's awesome to just come in and sit with the animals. I love that they have "cat rooms" so you can just hang out and find which animals respond to you best. I also brought my cat to their clinic to be spayed and the prices are reasonable and there are many packages to choose in addition to spaying--shots, dewormer, having claws trimmed, etc. My cat is normally very skittish and when I saw she was comfortable here and saw how kindly the staff treated her, it set me more at ease. I also appreciate that you can bring your animal back in to the clinic for check-ups if you are concerned about anything after the surgery.
We fostered kittens through One of a Kind, and I can't say I recommend it. While the kittens very much needed a temporary home, the support for fostering families was lacking in our experience. The staff and volunteers are well-meaning but over worked and not overly helpful. The neuter/spay clinic is inexpensive, but not thorough- they missed an eye infection on one of the foster kittens after I inquired about it at drop off and pick up. For the vet tech that did most of the well-kitty checks and immunizations, antibiotics were standard prescription at any sign (not great for over-use of antibiotics and the problems that that causes). Unless you have a big house and lots of experience with various temperaments of animals already, just give them money/goods and foster with another group.
Great place !! Wonderful customer service and their day care is top notch. They are always helpful with any questions about the dogs they have and any product I have purchased. They are always so busy I am always amazed at how nice the staff is while they have dogs barking, the phone is ringing nonstop and people are walking in and out, I would lose my patience. This is a great place to volunteer your time with animals. I have recommended this place to many people. Their Clinic staff is great too, I recently had a foster dog with heartworm and they knew I was concerned and answered all of my questions. They even explained the medications to me twice while there was a line behind me.
