I have taken both of my cats and my dog to this vet at least once for each pet, and just haven't been blown away by the experience. The receptionists aren't very friendly and I have met both veterinarians. Neither are very friendly and both made me feel rushed. They didn't give me the opportunity to ask questions on either visit because they abruptly leave. Once I stepped out to ask a receptionist if the doctor was coming back because I had questions and she said the vet had moved on to the next patient. He didn't even say goodbye. I understand it's a busy place, but it would be nice if they were a little more personable. It just doesn't seem like anyone cares very much there. I'm currently looking for a new place that will treat my animals with more genuine care.
If you're considering going here, please read this. This animal hospital killed my cat. I'm a BGSU college student who moved off campus last year with my boyfriend-now-fiance. We moved into our apartment with one cat, and decided to get another that December as a sort of Christmas present. Around that time, we started taking both of them to Midway. It was nice at first. They were efficient at getting clients in and out quickly. But even then, looking back, I realize something was up. It took taking one of my cats there twice for them to do anything about his difficulty urinating. The second time, if we'd waited any longer, he would have died. They put a catheter in overnight and our cat got better. He's been fine since, so I can admit to the fact that they saved my cat's life. Our second cat, the one we got last December, has always been a little sickly, but over the last month we noticed he was eating less and less, and started losing weight. Worried, we took him in. The first time, he didn't find any problems, but, again, I notice things now I didn't notice then. I've had cats all my life, and have taken them to the vet plenty of times. Whenever I took them, the vet checked everything--temperature, ears, mouth, teeth, heart, lungs, abdomen--everything. The first time we took him in because of his weight, we also took our other cat because he was having runny feces. The doctor did none of the above with either of them, except check their stomachs for worms. Not to mention, on every single one of my visits, the doctor treated me like I was stupid. A week or so later we took our younger cat in again because he'd almost completely stopped eating. This time when the vet checked, he had very pale gums, a sign of anemia. We left him there overnight to be watched and had blood work done. The anemia was confirmed. The next day I picked him up, but because they were trying to close, they rushed me out with a couple cans of food and a syringe to force feed him and gave me no information about the anemia, other than to force feed him and keep him from moving around. They didn't tell me the results of the blood work, aside from confirmed anemia, and they said they 'thought' it was a blood parasite. Later that day when I got home from work, I found our cat collapsed on the floor, panting. In one day his condition, even with a night at this office, went from okay to disastrous. In a panic, I called their emergency number and got growled at for calling after hours. If you have an emergency number, don't get angry if people call you during an emergency. We watched our cat get weaker for the next week and a half. We started doing research on anemia and found out that a blood transfusion was almost required in cases as severe as our cat's. Guess what? They didn't mention this once while I was at the hospital. We scheduled an appointment with another vet in hopes of getting a second opinion. That was supposed to be tomorrow. Our cat, Clay, passed away last night, and we are no closer to figuring out what was wrong with him. From what I've read, it can't be treated without knowing what the underlying cause is. He was only a year and a half old. I don't know where to tell you to go, but don't go to this animal hospital. They might have decent prices, but I don't trust them in emergency situations, and their staff is only in it for the money. They don't care about your pets.
Dr. Rick Martin is the best veterinarian I have ever met. He has cared for my rescue dogs for the past 17 years and is a brilliant diagnostician with a real heart for his patients and their guardians.
VERY caring people! I don't know what I would have done without Dr. Martin and staff.
They are very nice and very friendly, we took our kitten and cat here to get their first shots and plan on making them our permanent vet. They are very skilled and awesome at what they do!
