This review is for an Emergency situation and they are not my regular Vet. In September 2011, my cat had an emergency after 10:30 pm on a Friday night and they were the closest vet open at the time. It turned out that my cat suffered a fatal blood clot and needed to euthanized. To be honest, I found the vet herself to be competent and compassionate at the time and I did not feel pressured at all by her recommendation. If I was just judging the vet herself, I would have given her a very good rating. The reason i'm giving it only a fair is because I found the rest of the experience was stressful and the rest of the staff was unfriendly and it was obvious they cared more about getting paid than giving me a minute to comprehend all that was happening (my cat was in extreme pain and yeowling) and to deal with the limited options we had after discussing w/ the vet. I understand this wasn't my normal vet and they don't know me, but at the time their computer was down and they couldn't accept my credit card payment for the cost of treatment, so they wrote it down on a piece of paper and a few days later mailed me a receipt. It gave them the opportunity to send a simple condolences card since they were sending me mail anyway, but all I received was the credit card slip. Because it was an emergency and after regular vet hours, I paid more than usual - I'm not complaining about that in itself, but the lack of compassion at a difficult time left a negative impression on me and in the future if I need to find an after hours vet I will probably go elsewhere. Maybe they had a bad day, or maybe they were upset working late on a Friday - who knows, all I know is I just had to make a quick decision to euthanize my pet and the attitude of the non vet staff was something that made the night all the more stressful.

Anybody who takes their pets to West Park Hospital be very careful. . They lied to me 2 days in a row about my dogs ashes. They told me that they hadn't been brought back yet. Called the crematory and their records showed that they were delivered yesterday. They were holding her ashes hostage even though they had a postdated check for the remaining balance. She had (emergency) surgery and was doing well. Then she started acting different so I took her back. Dr Henderson took over her case. He said she had ITP and put her on prednisone, doxycycline, zeniquin and enacard. She had 3 x rays and an ultrasound during her treatment all the while he was pushing a bone marrow aspiration at a facility in Akron. (which I refused). She was doing well for a bit, then started retaining fluid. I took her back for a follow up and he suggested more blood work and x rays. I did the blood work but not the 4th x ray. She had one 4 days prior. She had gained 4 lbs..mostly fluid building up in her body, but he did nothing to treat it. She died 3 days later at home. I took her in to be cremated with the ashes returned and they intentionally lied to me. (you have to pay up front for the cremation services) They're supposed to care about the animal but the only thing they cared about was the money. My baby might still be here if they would have treated her properly instead of worrying about lining their pockets. Her surgery was over $900. The treatment after surgery was almost $2000. and her cremation was $135.90.
