I've taken several animals here and they are always friendly, accommodating and most importantly, educating. I had a raccoon in my garage that was acting very odd, I took him in and they said he had 'distemper' and would eventually die from the disease and that sadly he would have to be put down but on the bright side, the Raccoon didn't suffer and he was prevented from spreading the disease to other animals. They also helped with a baby bunny and called us with an update when they released it back into the wild. These people do not have or make a lot of money but it appeared to me that they do this type of work because they love it and they love animals.
Our puppy got a hold of a wild baby bunny, luckily we saw it before much damage was done, but we brought the bunny into the Wildlife Center. They took the bunny in more because it looked dehydrated rather than it being hurt by our dog. They thought it could have been the runt and unable to get it's place in line for milk. Probably the most important thing they did that day was educate us about wild bunnies and what to do if you find a nest - leave it alone. Mom bunnies don't stay with the nest during the day, they forage and come back at night. So if your dog is messing with a nest, keep the dog away but don't think the nest was abandoned and the bunnies need a new home. And they showed us their website with FAQ on most of Ohio's wildlife where we could learn information like that. The reviewer below has some pretty ruff things to say about the organization, but we're donating money and supplies because not many groups are doing this kind of work at this capacity. They don't get any government funding, it's just people who love animals doing what they can to help out. They're very knowledgeable and are providing a great service to our community.
Their paid staff signs paperwork saying that they feed and clean up after the animals, but they never do. If you never hear back about an animal you take in, it probably starved to death or got an infection or parasite that could have been prevented. One of their hawks starved to death last year, and they froze it so that cause of death couldn't be determined, destroying any evidence of their neglect. The staff is rude, and they act like all animals are disgusting. If I could give less of a rating, I would. Animals have a better chance at survival if left in the care if a kindergarten student than they do with these people.
