I absolutely love the Riverside Drive Animal Care Center. I have been taking my pets here for more than 15 years. Initially, I was recommended by a nationally-recognized Boxer breeder, so we brought our first puppy to RACC and Dr. McGuffin years ago. Today, our second Boxer is a patient here. The care our dogs have received has always been amazing. Each doctor truly cares about the pets that visit the practice. RACC is so technologically advanced and brings the latest advancements in pet medicine and treatment to the area. The staff is wonderful and incredibly professional. When I bring my dogs here for routine exams or medical issues (two ACL surgeries, cancer, osteoarthritis, tumor), the entire team at RACC treats my pet as if they were their own. This is a truly exceptional veterinary hospital.
We have been taking our dog Milo to RDACC for the past two years. We had heard great things about this clinic and I am so glad we made the switch. A few weeks ago, our dog became suddenly ill and when we took him in it appeared that he was suffering from kidney failure. Dr. Gorby knew exactly what tests to run and within a couple of hours he had diagnosed our dog with Addison's Disease and started the treatment process. From what I have learned, Addison's Disease is rare and difficult to diagnose. I am so grateful we took Milo to a vet who is so knowledgeable. Once Milo was able to come home, the staff at RDACC followed up daily to see how he was doing and if we had any questions. They made a very difficult time so much easier. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Gorby and the staff at RDACC. Without their care, Milo would not be the happy and healthy dog he is today!
I've been going to Riverside Drive Animal Care for two and a half years, and it has progressively gotten worse. When I had first started going I thought that the staff was friendly, helpful, and I really loved the vet. I actually thought that it was worth the expensive price that they charge. I noticed the service going down when I called my vet in an attempt to get an immediate appointment due a potential emergency with my dog. I stressed that it was an emergency to the receptionist and requested a callback as soon as possible on whether they would be able to get me an appointment that night, or at least be able to talk with a vet. I waited for awhile, called back, and re-stressed that it was an emergency. Since it was getting close to closing time for the vet, and I had not heard back, I decided to just drive my dog there. I got to the vet shortly before they closed without ever receiving a callback. The vet decided to see me, and stated that the vets were not informed of my emergency before I got there. Later in the year I had taken my dog into the vet because her paws were red and irritated. The vet did a lot of expensive tests, and I was given expensive prescriptions. To finally get my dogs irritated paws under control it cost me over $500, which I am fine with if that is what needed to be done. However, within a year my dog's paw issues came back, so I took her to the vet again. They again wanted to run all of the tests. I declined this time and asked if there was any non-prescription treatments that I can try first. The vet then told me of a cheap option that I could try. I ended up spending about $2 to fix my dog's issues more quickly than with the $500 option that they had me do the first time. A few weeks ago I had called the vet asking for more heart worm medicine. The receptionist told me that they needed to do a test before I could get the prescription, but I did not need to schedule an appointment because a technician could do it. This past Saturday I brought my dog in to get the medicine. Before bringing my dog in I checked their hours for Saturday, which stated they were open until 3:30 PM. When I arrived at 12:55 PM I was told that they were closing and wouldn't be able to get a test ran. When I told them that their website stated they were open until 3:30 PM, they said that they posted outside that they were only open until 1:00 PM that day. This didn't really help me because it is too late to discover they close early if I drive there to find it out. I asked if they could do anything to get my dog her medicine that day, so they went back to speak to the vets about it. When they came back they informed me that I had to schedule an appointment for this, which completely contradicted what I was told earlier about not needing an appointment because a technician could run the test. This was very frustrating, not only because my time was wasted, but because my dog is without the medicine she needs. I've had enough with this vet, and am looking elsewhere.
We have been taking our pets to Riverside Drive Animal Care since 2003. We have had emergency surgery done there for one cat (bowl obstruction), two spays (for a dog and cat) and one neuter -- this in additional to our regular yearly check-ups, vaccinations, etc. for all three animals. (Not to mention the regular nail trims we have done every 2- to 3-weeks for the dogs.) We had a cat who would obsessively eat any hair bands or twist ties or ANYTHING she found on counters or on the floor. She got two bowl obstructions because of this behavior. The first time happened on a weekend. Because of the emergency situation, the technician I spoke to advised us to take her to a 24-hour vet hospital for immediate treatment -- which we did. The next business day (Monday), the tech from Riverside Drive called to make sure everything was okay -- which was something he didn't have to do since they weren't treating the cat. I was really touched by this. A couple of years later, this same cat had ANOTHER obstruction and the vet at Riverside (Dr. McGuffin) took care of her right away. The staff is always friendly, the technicians are professional and the vets are attentive and caring. They know our animals by name and will come out to greet them -- which our dogs absolutely LOVE. I would recommend Riverside Drive Animal Care to anyone.
