This is the only vet that our animals have ever been to. We have never met a more caring group of professionals. Throughout the past 17 years, they have seen our entire family of pets: our deceased Tabby Kitty Baby, our deceased St. Bernard Pee-Wee, and now our aging Corgi Missy. Fran put our St. Bernard down right in the back seat of our pick up truck, when he was so ill he could barely stand, and she cried with us. Ginny is always so pleasant, will advise you over the phone and squeeze you in when your pet is ill. Dr. Miedema, still treating animals to this day, with very reasonable prices, once told me when I complemented him on his great female staff , 'Julie, I hope to be able to retire one day with my practice in the hands of these girls.' We trust any one of them with our pets, because their hearts are in everything they do.
When I was very young my mom would take our lab at the time there for her check-ups and what not. The vet was always rude when my mom would ask questions or treat my mother like she was completely stupid. He showed no interest to take note of the concerns my mother had. Needless to say after our lab almost died during surgery because of him we changed vets. Now almost 12 years later my aunt takes her Shiloh Shepherd there to get her blood drawn and vaccines. Just today I had to go with her to help with the dog and the vet refused to draw blood on her because she was a large dog (118-120lbs) and decided to give her a 'mild' sedative before even daring to take any blood. Needless to say the vet said the sedative would be out of her system by an hour at the most....instead it lasted almost 7 hours. I would not recommend this vet to anyone. He seems to be more worried about getting his money then the health of a pet.
Being new to the whole pet ownership thing, we weren't sure what to expect as far as vets go. The cat did NOT like the doctor, and we felt really odd leaving him there for a neuter when the doctor was under the impression he was there for loose stool. Fortunately we were there to set him straight, but it's not exactly confidence-inspiring. Our little guy was also rather unhappy after his surgery, but, well... I can't really blame him, I'd be pretty upset too. And it's entirely possible the mixup was just because we're not regulars there and it was our first visit. Nonetheless, I think we'll be taking our little guys elsewhere.
