I have gone to Grabers for years and have always found them to be caring and thorough. They have worked hard to find complex medical issues with my dogs and to recommend cost effective methods of treatment. When I have an emergency they always fit me and on one occasion met me at the office on their day office. On occasion I had to wait for my appointment time but this is the exception. When I am in the office I never feel rushed and they always give me the time I need. I find their cost to be resonable and appreciate the senior discount they offer.
The four times I have been to Graber's Animal Hospital I experienced poor customer service. The staff "greeting" the customers presented annoyed, were not personable and communication was poor. I waited 20 minutes to be acknowledged for my second scheduled appointment only after knocking on a door to get someone to come out front. Then when picking up my cat the same day at 5:50 p.m. I stood outside for 4-5 minutes knocking because the doors were locked. One staff looked right at me and kept walking and when I tried to call I got the answering service 10 minutes before they closed. Again this all happened even when knowing I was scheduled to pick up my cat. I had two staff tell me I could pick up my cat anytime before 6:00 and I relayed to the staff that morning that I wouldn't be back until at least 5:45, who said "as long as you are here before we close at 6." Then when I finally got in after demanding to be let in by the answering service, the staff who again did not "greet" me replied back to my complaints with telling me I was supposed to pick up my cat by 5:30 and that they are not allowed to answer the phones if the doctor is not there. There was no apology. I can say that the vet tech who brought out my cat out was pleasant, more pleasant that the vet I had saw. We recently moved to the area, live near by Graber's and have four pets, but would rather drive across town to where we receive good customer service.
about a month ago we took our dog Sadie to Graber's due to her breathing problems. Vet did xrays and told us she had bronchitis. she was put on antibiotics and after the 1st round of drugs, she was not any better so they examined her again and put her on a 2nd round of the same antibiotics. Being concerned that she was not eating and still having breathing issues we consulted a different vet in Dundee MI and he did a physical exam and found that she was covered in lumps. CANCER! only given 1 month to live. How could Grabers have missed this? shame on them. do not take your beloved pets to Grabers. When the Grabers were actually practicing there, it was a great place to go.
My adult lab had been in with a "bulging" eye and a limp. I was assured by the vet that it was an eye infection and was given eye drops. She told me that the limp was just arthritis and give her some Glucoseamine/Chondrotin (sp) supplements and shed be fine. After a few weeks the eye was worse and was now "popping" out of her head and she could barely walk. I saw a different vet and was asked "who told u this was an eye infection" I told her "the other vet here". The eye was not an infection but Glaucoma and needed to be removed. This would cost almost a grand. The leg was not arthritis but a torn ligament and needed surgery. I was livid. I had let my dog suffer for a month because of this vet. For total cost would have been almost 2 grand. I ended up having to put her down that day because I couldn't afford the surgery and couldn't bear to see my baby in pain one more day.
The facility is quite clean but the positives stop there. The vet techs always seem to be in a bad mood. They do not greet you in a friendly manner. The prices are ridiculous. For a routine rabies shot, I was charged $70 which included the shot, the doctor visit and a look at my cat's ears. The second time I had to visit them, I needed to wait a full hour before I was given service. Avoid this vet clinic. I found another vet. I now use County Squire. Sure, the walls aren't as pretty but my animals and my pocket book are both healthy.
