We were visiting Bend in early August of this year from Texas when our 16 year old border collie mix, Rhea, became quite ill. We looked for a local vet and called High Desert, after reading these great reviews. Dr. Oddo and staff did a FANTASTIC job of diagnosing and caring for Rhea, totally exceeding all expectations. Such smart and loving care! We are honored to make a donation to Charlie's fund in thanks and only wished we lived closer to Bend. What a community treasure.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful the vets at High Desert Veterinary are to our pets. I found Dr. Oddo while interviewing for a new vet for my mom's dog, Sydney. I had taken Syd to the vet my Mom used and I did not like the way Syd was treated. As soon as Dr. Oddo began to talk, I knew he was the right vet--very knowledgeable. I also found out that he had graduated from UC Davis, as had my vet in Santa Cruz, CA and that he knew my vet. My former vet is now one of the vets at High Desert Veterinary, Dr. Carr. I have also sent my brother and sister to High Desert Vet for their pets and when we moved here in 2006, of course we started to use Dr. Oddo's services. Our family has had care for both dogs and cats and I cannot say enough about how well they have been cared for. When our last dog grew old and needed help with arthritis, we went every month for his shot and I am sure that we had his company for another year with this help. When my brother's dog grew to be too much for him because of health issues, Dr. Oddo found her a new home where she is greatly loved. When a stray cat with Feline HIV came to live with us, Dr. Oddo helped in his care as did Drs. Barkhurst and Carr. We had several more years with him by taking really great care in his feeding and making sure he was kept up to date with his shots. Towards the end, Dr. Barkhurst helped us decide to stop the shots because they made him too ill even when we did them separately. They also always call to see how our pets are doing after we visit. We have had to say good-by to some of our pets and they always make us feel better with their compassion and they handle the cremation of our pets for us. We are very grateful for the wonderful care and concern they show for our beloved pets.

My wife and I have known Tony Oddo for over two decades. We moved to Bend in 1992 and began taking our cats to his clinic for regular exams. Because of Tony's expertise, credibility and knowledge of every animal, combined with the professional skills of his staff, Bernadine and I have had many wonderful years loving our cats. This is because they have always been healthy, happy felines - and anyone will tell you that a healthy and well cared for pet is a happy one, reciprocating the love it's owners have nutured it with. Such has been the same with all of our cats, which we must give credit to High Desert Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Tony Oddo, Dr. Jeannette Barkhurst, Amber and all the staff members who have not only been a huge blessing to our pets from their genesis of kittenhood, but also to the very end of the journey, when it's time to say goodbye- These wonderful people have not only been a source of par-excellence veterinary care, but willing to offer their compassion and comfort to their clients as well- something seldom seen embellished with so much kindness. We continue to have the assurance of having healthy pets under the care of Drs. Tony and Jeanette- we will never take them anywhere else. If anyone would ask me, I would not only highly recommend they bring their pet to High Desert, but also that they would be depriving their Dog, Cat, or any pet they own to a lifetime of health and wellness, along with the blessing of peace of mind. Dr. Tony Oddo and his staff at High Desert are the best you'll ever find. Their professionalism and knowledge is surpassed only by their compassion for and love of animals. When I had to say goodbye to one of my beloved cats, Dr. Oddo did everything he could to make it a peaceful transition and to make me feel that letting go of my dear companion was an act of love. I will be forever grateful to him for that.

We have had a lot of animals over the years, and Tony Oddo and Jeanette Barkhurst have always been there for us at a moments' notice. They always take exceptional care of everyone we have brought in, either for a standard appointment or an emergency. I highly recommend their services.
