My diabetic kitty Chase got really sick at the end of Oct. '14 and just quit eating. For the next few months, Dr. Rex worked tirelessly to try to find another approach when Chase did not respond and continued to lose weight. At times, Chase and I were visiting daily for glucose count checks, blood work and different blood panels to try to find out why he wouldn't eat. He even had to teach me how to "force feed" Chase in an attempt to keep him alive. There were some very dark days, especially since it was over the holidays. Dr. Rex called me regularly even if he had already seen us earlier that same day. He kept communication open and answered my questions as best he could. He even called on Christmas day! After using most of the tricks in his bag, Dr. Rex said we could try one more thing but if that failed, he was out of suggestions. I appreciated his honesty. I explained we are retired and the expense was getting too high… we love Chase a great deal but I wasn't going to continue to "force feed" him. In nature, he would have already been dead. On New Year's Day, Chase suddenly began eating again. We all sighed in relief and my tears were happy and not so, so sad. Also I want to thank Dr. Crabtree who first saw Chase. She too tried several things and was caring, concerned and wouldn't give up. When Dr. Rex returned from vacation, she obviously briefed him so we didn't have to start all over again. A HUGE thank you to the staff. Every time I called in, dropped by or had an appointment, I was greeted cheerfully. And I know everyone was wishing the best for Chase. They were compassionate, patient and felt our desperation right along with my husband and me. I'm pretty positive Chase would not be alive if the whole team hadn't done such an outstanding job. We sincerely appreciate it. Chase is slowly gaining weight and eats enthusiastically right along with the rest of our family. Happy 2015!
Dr. Rex has been a wonderful vet for our dog and cats for over 4 years now. We have been very happy with the care our pets have received and have recommended Dr. Rex to all our friends. We recently had an unexpected crisis with our 14 year old dog Dorjie. On July 14th, Dorjie ran into our backyard and got into a scuffle with a mama deer. Dorjie has weak and unstable back hips from a previous injury. He ended up tripping in the yard as the mama deer advanced on him. Dorjie went down and the deer reared up and struck him 3 times with her front hooves. It was early morning and we called Dr. Rex in a panic, as Dorjie was clearly injured and couldn't walk. Dr Rex met us at the clinic within 20 minutes and took x rays. Dorjie's right hip was dislocated. The options for re-location include surgery, but Dr. Rex recommended that we try a closed re-location, which involves sedating the dog and manually re-locating the hip. Because of Dorjie's age and previous back injury, we opted to try this first, hoping to avoid surgery. Re-locations of this kind hold about 50 percent of the time. Well, Dr. Rex is a miracle worker! We are now 5 weeks post injury and Dorjie is doing great. We have gone in twice a week for infra red laser treatments, which helps reduce inflammation and helps heal the injury by bringing new blood flow to the area. The laser treatments have been very beneficial. We have also started Adequan ( an injectable Glucosamine ) shots, which is seeming to help as well. Dorjie has recovered better than we could have hoped, and we are continuing the laser and Adequan as needed at this point. Dr. Rex's skill in relocating Dorjie's hip was fantastic, as is his spot-on recommendations for the helpful laser therapy and Adequan. We both think Dorjie is doing even a bit better in his mobility than before the accident, which points to the helpfulness of the laser therapy and Adequan. I have the greatest respect for Dr Rex and his staff. They have once again proven how competent and caring they are. This was a very serious injury for a 14 year old dog with bad hips, and I am eternally grateful for the wonderful care Dorjie is receiving. Dr. Rex is a very skilled and honest vet, and I couldn't ask for better care for our beloved pets.
They saved my baby! broke jaw and server turn mandible. and he look's and act's like his old self now. Thank's DR Rex!!!
Dr. Rex takes excellent care of our two labradoodles- we have found him to be an exceptionally knowledgeable and compassionate vet who is very fairly priced. We appreciate his clear communication, caring follow up after procedures, and the fact that our dogs adore him. Thank you Dr. Rex!
We have found Dr. Rex and his staff to be of the highest quality. When he purchased the practice from our former vet we didn't know anything about him but have come to hold him in the highest regard and soon found out that he was the vet of a friend of ours in San Mateo before moving to Bend. She is still in mourning. Her loss was our gain. Recently our 11 year old dog had a spinal stroke and was barely able to walk or control her hind quarters. The prognosis was not optimistic. Dr. Rex came in on a Saturday and began the first of 5 laser treatments. She showed remarkable progress over the course of the treatments and is now walking independently, negotiating the stairs and is back to jumping on the furniture. You can't go wrong with Dr. Rex who is dedicated to his patients. He is generous with his time and more than fair with his prices. See for yourself.
