I have never had such an amazing veterinary experience. I have always had rabbits, and care in various places is patchy at best, usually with vets just taking a guess at what is wrong and more often than not causing more harm than help. West Hills has an amazing staff, with doctors actually trained specifically about rabbits. My little guy got amazing care, never seemed stressed out, and every step of the way the vet was there, talking to me about the problems with my bunny and our options in care. The doctor even called several days in a row to check on how my rabbit was recovering. She remembered all the details of his care and was completely on board with the decisions I made in terms of his medication. Never, ever consider going anywhere else. West Hills Animal Hospital is THE place for veterinary care.
Not only are we happy with everyone at West Hills, but so is Jake!! When we tell Jake we are going to see his Doctor he jumps around and goes to the door. Jake is 10 and has been going to West Hills since he was 3. We wouldn't take him anywhere else. When our son and his family visited from Texas, his two dogs needed to see a veterinarian. He was able to get both dog in and receive the same great care that Jake gets. I have recommended West Hills to friends who have all thanked me and told me how great they and their pets were treated by the staff at West Hills Animal Hospital!!
Hi. We took our dog, Barnaby the beagle to West Hills because two of our friends recommended them to us. I was skeptical because I'd heard they were expensive. Barnaby was getting his free check-up after we adopted him from the Heartland shelter. They're check-up was thorough, and initially I was given some monthly medicine to give our pet for worms, fleas and heart-worm. I waited until the blood test results were given to me before administering any medicine (if he had parasitic worms, he'd need other medicine). The monthly medicine was to prevent the fleas and to thwart the life-cycles of the other two things. He only had the parasitic worms. I questioned a monthly medicine and inquired more fully before administering anything. After learning more about the medicine and the risks of getting the diseases, I decided to treat only the intestinal parasite, and was given some guidelines by the veterinarian to follow (when I will administer some medicine, when risk is greater, or a need develops). At first I didn't expect the vets to understand where I was coming from, but they seemed very willing after we talked about things, and I felt very good about their care, the discussion I had with them and my choices.
Dr. Vickstrom is the best avain veterinarian I have found. She has a special way of connecting to both my small parrot 'Oscar', and with me. I trust her skills and knowledge. With my concerns and questions answered, I always feel better than when I arrived. We are very fortunate to have some one in Corvallis that knows and works with birds so well!
My bearded dragon is suffering from an unusual systemic fungal infection. We initially figured nothing could be done but Dr. Vickstrom is an expert in a variety of exotic pets including lizards. She has been treating his illness and always educates us about care, habitat, normal behavior, when to be concerned, etc. Her assistant Ester has been wonderful about sending reminder e-mails and checking in on his health. Everyone we have met at West Hills has been wonderful - friendly, professional and extremely helpful. I have recommended this clinic to several others with exotic pets without reservation.
