I have been taking our pets to Dr. Helton since 1999. He is thorough, compassionate, and has a way with animals. Prices are reasonable, too. Staff are professional and friendly.

Took animal there to get rabies shot to renew her license. Apparently, they forwarded my name and information to Lane County who sent us a threatening letter about licensing our animal. I did not go in and pay a fee so they could forward my information to the County. They are complete idiots, I went in to get a rabies shot for the expressed purpose of updating my license. The County then sent the threatening letter to an address in Benton County. Of course the animal isn't licensed in Lane County, it lives at the home in Benton County--you know where you mailed the letter to. The animal is licensed, in Benton County. From the wording of the letter I now have to take my time to contact the County or they will fine me up to $400. This is why regular people dislike the government.

I have two cats and a puppy who are patients at The Ark. I have been extremely satisfied with the care we have received to date. The front office staff is very friendly and efficient. They are caring and take an interest in my pet and my family. Dr. Helton and Dr. Collins are both very friendly and very knowledgeable. The level of care and compassion I received a couple of months ago when my puppy was very sick and they thought he had Parvo was terrific. I feel their prices are very competitive and I have never had to wait more than five minutes to be seen -- with the exception of the one time I did not have an appointment and had to be worked in on a Saturday morning due to the previously mentioned puppy illness. I am very pleased with The Ark and would highly recommend it to any pet owner.

Dr. Stone was very kind and extra helpful when our old dog had to be put to sleep. She even came out and gave him his shot while he was still in the back of the car, so he would not be afraid, after which she and her assistant lugged his 100lb body out of the car. Their kindness made a sad time more bearable. The prices are always reasonable at the Ark. We love them there.

The front office is divided for cats on one side and dogs on the other and is quite spacious which puts the animals more at ease. I don't think the prices are unreasonable. Dr. Helton has a wonderful manner with dogs and humans. He is gentle, kind, and yet confident. Our big old dog feels extremely comfortable with him and so do we. We thought our dog was so sick he would have to be put down one weekend recently. They squeezed us into an early Monday appointment, and because Eli was so sick, and he is very big, Dr. Helton came out and looked at him in the car. We told him we weren't prepared to have extensive things done to him, but if there were something relatively simple, we would like to give it a go as he has been a wonderful dog, and deserves a second chance if it's affordable and not too hard on him. Dr. Helton suggested we take him home with a strong dose of antibiotics and a pain-killer, and give it 24 hours to look for improvement. If none, we could bring him back for euthanasia. It was a wise suggestion, because it was in our budget and as it turned out, that was a few weeks ago and Eli is pretty much back to his old confident self, chasing squirrels and doing all his favorite doggie things. It's good to have him back and when he gets sick again, we will go to no other animal clinic but the Ark. Dr. Helton and his operation can do no wrong in our book.
