This place is the best. They have watched over my German Shepherd, Gretchen, for years. She alerts as we turn down Bodenhamer Rd, and leaps out of the car tugging to go inside. Her stays are usually about a week, though sometimes longer. She is always happy and well taken care of when we arrive to pick her up. The staff is the best. They are attentive, give Gretchen wonderful walks and personal attention. I always take advantage of a spa day at WVDC for her on the day before I pick her up. Those negative comments--I disagree.
Our dog Arrow has stayed at WV Dog & Cat many times over the past couple of years when we are out of town. He LOVES it! The fact that he goes completely nuts when we pull up in the parking lot is a true indication to us how much he enjoys staying there. The staff is always helpful and friendly and always recognize him on sight and seem genuinely excited he is coming to stay with them. If his stay is more than a few nights, we get him the spa treatment so he comes back home with us fresh and clean. The fact that they are full early for holidays is one way to tell how much people love this place -- so make your reservations early!
We have used several different kennels in different parts of the country and this is one of the best we have ever used. They allowed us to tour the facility unannounced, and took good care of our dog who can be very difficult. The three walks are included in the base price- and it seems our dog got spoiled with these three walks. He now expects us to take hip m out three times a day.
I cannot recommend WDCM enough. We first brought our crazy lab, Hannah, there a couple months ago and I know she's not easy with strangers. She's not your typical, social Lab, and is actually quite afraid of people other than our little family. Since her first time in, the staff has been welcoming, friendly and reassuring to both Hannah and us. She is completely getting used to the place and loved there as their own. We cannot thank the staff enough for their amazing attitudes and willingness to work with our crazy, timid girl. She's evolving and we are happy that they've been a part of it. On top of it all, they sent us a postcard that we just came home to, with a progress report from her stay the past few days and a discount for her next stay. (Thank you) Be sure to check these guys out. You'll be glad you did.
