While travelling, we had to take our dog Rufus in for assistance to express his bladder after emergency back surgery. The experience was awesome, the staff and vet techs caring, compassionate, friendly and skilled. While we didn't end up needing veterinarian services, the Dr. was awesome too! Very impressed and would highly recommend to anyone in the area or travelling through. 5 Stars.
We had to take our 6 yr. old Dachshund in for emergency back surgery 1 year ago. He hasn't had any issues since. We were scared to death, but everyone here was knowledgable, kind, informative, and fast! This place is pricy, but in a life or death emergency, at midnight on a weekend, it is priceless. Thank You SOVSC.
I was forced to take my pet in on a holiday for their safety... but I will say this: Search for local veterinarians that offer "emergency" services after hours *instead* of this place. I paid a whole paycheck for x-rays on my animal just to be sent home with some meds without taking care of the source of the problem. This place is about After two weeks, my pet was getting worse, as the original problem was not taken care of. I found a local veterinarian just to find they could've served me on that holiday as they offer those emergency services. It cost 1/3 the price to *take care of the problem*, as something was lodged in my pet's soft palate near the nasal cavity. Please do not go here, for your pocketbook and more importantly for results. In retrospect, comparing it to my local new vet, I felt like their service was impersonal and only aimed at keeping you calm to pay a huge amount for sub-par treatment. I know understand why they have pictures up everywhere showing apparent clients who were impressed with them, because they NEED it to convince you to stay. I will never ever to the Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center again, as it is my mission to keep others away from them.
Be prepared to pay an unbelievable amount of money for any type of pet care. Services are listed on the bill presented before your pet is seen by the veterinarian , so it is important to go over every item listed and have the office person explain why they are necessary before the veterinarian sees your pet. This is our second time having an emergency on a weekend and both times we were shocked with the amount of money charged for services. After going over each item and finding out what was really necessary we were able to cut the bill by almost $300. It costs $110 just for walking into the place. An alternative to this veterinary center on a weekend is to travel to Springfield where prices are more reasonable and they are more accommodating.
Poor doesn't even describe it the worst Veterinary Clinic I've ever seen. Pretty much told me since I dont have credit to let my dog lay there and die.
