I took my dog here for the first time last year when he was not eating and losing weight. He was eventually diagnosed, they thought, with lymphoma and I was referred over to the specialty vet, where they confirmed it was in fact lymphoma. Dr. Hoyt has taken the time to always answer any questions I have about his treatment, even when I was in there with my other dog. I also had a great phone encounter with the male vet when I called in a panic about the same dog, when he was so sick we thought we were going to have to put him down. He was so understanding and patient talking to me for over 15 minutes on the phone. So far, my dog is doing great on alternative treatment (not chemo) and is still with us 21 weeks after diagnosis. I would recommend this office 100% for their compassion and the time they take to answer all your questions.
My parents took our pets to Jackson and now I have been taking mine there for years as well. When our "Dozer" had kidney failure and needed to be put down, we asked if we could be with him. We put him in the back of our truck, crowded around him and cuddled him while the doctor waited to administer the drugs. He waited patiently until we were ready. They are caring, considerate and compassionate people. I will not take my pets anywhere else.
I took my puppy here after a bad experience at another vet. I adopted my pup after he was attacked by another dog. He was rushed to the vet and I told my neighbors, the owners of the dog, that they weren't keeping him after the level of neglect I saw occurring. They signed him over to me. I picked the pup up from the other vet on a Monday and took him back three times to the other vet, but he seemed to be in more pain than he should have been. I called Jackson VCA to see if they would examine him. They readily agreed and got me in that day. It took about three minutes of me explaining the situation for the vet to figure out the pup had a broken jaw that had gone undetected for 10 days. He promptly did x-rays and found that the pup also had a broken neck. Both were promptly taken care of and my puppy is all better now. I was amazed at how they listened to me and didn't consider me the crazy lady who kept bringing her dog back...
Jackson Animal Hospital is consistently kind and courteous. Veterinarians do need to be paid at the time of service, and any thoughtful pet owner should be aware of this. Always be sure to specify your concerns and the vet will be better able to be aware of them, oddly enough, although one veterinarian is extremely empathetic with the pet owners and can sometimes help them voice their concerns. I saw that with my wife. I also have had good experiences with my cat.
