I came here for the first time yesterday, and I was a crying mess. I'm a first time rat owner (they just turned a year old earlier this month) and my girl Natsu has taken a tumble after climbing into the hallway closet and knocking some board games off the shelf, she was climbing around on her stomach and seemed very weak and hazy, I was certain she was dying. This vet was closest to my house so I was very happy when I showed up and they said they treated rats, I was even happier when they quickly got us into a room, and we didn't have to wait long at all for a doctor to come see her. Everybody was so kind and helpful the whole time, even though I was clearly distressed, they all seemed very rat friendly and some of them even said they'd owned rats in the past. They ended up doing some x-rays and prescribing some medicine, it looked like she had a bruise on the side of her lung but luckily she didn't appear to have anything broken or fractured, or internal bleeding. The whole time everyone paid Natsu compliments and said what a cute/sweet rat she was; they wrote up a detailed summary of what I needed to do when I got home, which was good because I was still a blubbery mess & wasn't soaking in information very well. While writing this review they even called to check and see how she was doing, so that's awesome, she seems 500% better and pretty much back to her regular self, but they said I could call if I had any further questions/concerns. I was nervous about rushing to a vet I'd never been to in the middle of the day with a rat emergency but they went above and beyond my expectations, if Natsu or her sister ever needs a check-up (or has another emergency, but I'm hoping against that) we'll definitely be returning. They definitely get my recommendation!
A couple weeks ago, we rescued a 10 week old puppy. Unfortunately, she hadn't been given any of her shots and was sick. We obviously made a vet appointment for her immediately. This was the only place we found with a Saturday appointment available. Now I know why! Having a 10 week old, sick puppy is like having a baby! I would like, at the very least, answers to all of my questions! The vet I saw spent barely 20 minutes with us, and made little to no eye contact. Answers were terse, non descriptive and vague. No additional information was given. For example, the puppy had very bad dandruff. ME: Should I put fish oil on her food? Vet: No, I would not do that. Ok... Hmmm... So what should I do??? The rest of the appointment went very similarly. Save your time and money and go down the street to the Banfield Pet Hospital. They were less expensive and extremely supportive and informative. They even called back a few times to check on my puppy. That is the care I would expect from a vet!
These folks have been very caring and professional with me and my animals for several years now. Their facility is not brand new, but it's clean and I've been very pleased with the care my animals have received. They discuss treatment plans in detail and are very upfront about the costs without making me feel guilty about my inability to pay top dollar. We've discussed wellness plans and even hospice plans. They consult w/one another to make good use of their veterinary experience which allows them to provide good information about what treatments are likely to be the most effective. They call back to check on my pets and their treatment as well. They're about 1/2 the cost of my previous vet while providing excellent care.
