Highway robbery fees! I would NEVER recommend Banfield. I thought that utilizing the wellness plan for my dog would be the most cost-efficient way to manage his health. Took a chance outside of my normal vet for a dental exam/extraction quote. The vet there told me that the $844 quote ON TOP OF the wellness enrollment and monthly fees was "a bargain" in comparison to others out there. Sooo not true. There's a facility in Vancouver, WA who does canine dental cleanings for $179 flat. And my normal vet (who I should have just taken my dog to in the first place) ended up doing the EXACT service Banfield quoted me for only $288, INCLUDING medications, cleaning and extractions and WITHOUT a year-long monthly fee. After this is all said and done, I try and cancel my wellness plan because I obviously don't need it anymore and it turned into a 5-DAY song and dance of leaving messages, emails, uncooperative customer service reps and misleading and incorrect legal verbiage on the plan contract headache. Ended up paying $82.50 for a 10 MINUTE office visit/assessment that wasn't even a full exam and yielded nothing but a quote for another $1000 quote of services. My normal vet? $40 for as much time as you need. I will NEVER recommend Banfield to any pet owner.

I have read the negative reviews and have never found them to be true. My daughter and I have used the wellness plans for years and never disappointed. We recently needed acl repair surgery and with the wellness plan it cost half of what other hospitals charged. The vets at very helpful and caring. Visits are totally covered and so is other treatments, depending on your plan. Non covered mess and treatments are discounted. And you can cancel any time as well as upgrade the plan if something comes up. Try taking your pet to non plan offices and see how much it costs you. You'll be glad you have the wellness plan. There are also insurance plans through other companies and had I known about them, I would have signed up for one instead. Monthly costs are about the same, but the will not cover preexisting conditions. So if you suddenly have a need you're not covered for, it's too late. We live Banfield and we've used them in several other parts of the country as well.

We have taken our cats here for a couple years now and honestly I love that the vets know us and know our pets. We have one older cat that has developed a lot of health problems in her old age but they are always able to take care of her and can usually get her in quickly if we need it. Both of our cats are on health plans with them and I am so glad because it has saved us a huge amount of money (almost $5k to date) that we would have had to pay out of pocket elsewhere. I have gone to other vets in the past for a second opinion and received the same diagnosis and treatment plan as they have given me.

wow, I really wish I would have read reviews before committing to the "health" plan. The care so far has been sub-par. If your pet is feeling ill they make you come in, they won't answer any questions over the telephone. Long waits, even with appointment, and they OVER PERSCRIBE like crazy, and even with my "discount" I have still spent more in the last 3 months there then I did in the last 6 at my other vet. That is on top of my monthly payments. I will be making the stupid payments for the plan until next July but I won't be returning. Waste of my money. It sucks because I have two dogs, one that is an older dog and I really thought this was going to be a great deal for me. Now I am out $768 in monthly payments and my guys are no better for having been treated there. I sorely regret my decision on take them to Banfield.

I wouldnt even rate this place, its horrible. They have you pay the plans up front for a fee for every month. They also tell you can cancel at anytime you wish. Well I called today to cancel, and they said you have to wait till april to cancel. Also all those discounts you get are decent, till the moment you want to quit. They make you pay all of those discounts off. Ill be paying for something I dont use for another 6 months. Totally worthless.
