Dr Alfred is the absolutely the highest skilled vet we have ever seen. My wife worked as a veterinary assistant for many years at another (expensive) clinic and and she fully agrees with me that Dr Alfred was better than any of the vets she has ever worked with.
MY 24 toed cat love s this place His name is The Yetti. Lastt name Henry, With 7 toes on each front foot and 5 on each back foot he has a grand total of 24, so far. The most in Portland
We have been taking our dog to Companion Pet Clinic. During this time it took us many attempts to find a Vet we liked. Other vet want to solve all the worlds problems by cooking your own dog food. Had an appointment today and the vet we liked wasn't there. We were not called in advanced. This is 100% unacceptable.
I DO NOT recommend this clinic for any serious problem. I should have taken my dog to a real clinic where doctors care about the animals. The doctor did not seem concerned about my dog's condition( intestinal parasite), just said "easy diagnosis" and prescribed a medicine. No instructions were given on how to administer the medicine or any side effects to look for. I did not know that the medicine is so bitter that made the dog nauseated and gagging. They failed to mark the bottle directions "do not crush". In my desperation to have the dog get the medicine I crushed it and administer it in a syringe. When I called and asked to talk to the doctor, I was told he is hard of hearing but I can leave a message through the receptionist. When I went back and was concerned that the medicine is not working they said to start the dose again(that's when I was told "you should not crush it). I was given another dose, this time the bottle was marked "DO NOT CRUSH". I was concerned that my dog was not eating for days, but I was told that's okay as long as he is still drinking. My dog did not live long enough to start the dose again(died on the fifth day). I have so much guilt for not taking him somewhere else. He was only a pup, five month old.
I called them this morning inquiring about their policies and costs for euthanasia services. The first answer I got was "You can come in, and we can do it." When I asked about a cost estimate, they gave me a range of "$150-$300 - probably not more." and said it would likely not be at the high end. I really didn't want to be in the process of putting our dog down and also not know what the cost was going to be, so I asked what variables there were, and then told them what we wanted in each case. (We wanted to be with our dog during the euthanasia and we wanted to have a private cremation - both cost more - and the dogs weighs 45lbs.) With this information, they still gave me the same price range but couldn't tell me what else they would need to know to give a more accurate price - they said I'd need to talk it over with the vet after the vet had seen our dog. At this point I'd already spoken with two different people and gave up. It's really a shame they don't have better service here as they are literally a block from our house and we have multiple dogs.
