I cannot say enough great things about this small clinic. It came recommended by my neighbor when I was upset about other clinics, including the specialist by the way, who kept wanting to charge me to run more test and still not helping my dog. Dr. Brenner chose to look at the test that had already been done, suggested a trial of something completely different then what we had been doing. Well, my dog is finally doing better and steroid free! If I there is a catch it was that they were busy and I did have to wait about 10 minutes past my appointment to get in. That is less than I always have to wait to see MY doctor, and it was easy to see why they were as busy as they were. From now on i am going not going anywhere else! On a side note, my neighbor had actually recommended me to The Village Vet, but when I called the day that worked for me, Dr. Brenner was working at Barlow Trail, apparently owned by the same person the veterinarian works at both.
I never thought putting down my 11 year old Aussie would be this hard. I called the clinic and asked if they do at home calls and the gentleman said Yes and explained the process. He stated an exam was required per law ( I looked it up and that's sure true!) and payment was required before hand. Got the prices and also had it scheduled for the next day. At first I was taken back about the exam and payment but then realized 1. It's the law and 2. What a mess it would be to be dealing with money and trying to perform this type of service at the same time. It made sense! I was able to hold my boy while Dr. Brenner did her exam with such calmness and compassion that he didn't even realize he was being examined. She then gave a sedative under the skin which "pinched" for a minute (she gave me a warning about it) but then he relaxed and the last part was done. I got to spend the entire process with him and being at home. Sad but also wonderful at the same time. What a great team of people with compassion and also patience! I realize that this type of service isn't provided by all and it's a privledge that they do! Thank You so much and I'll be coming to you now on with my other 4-legged crew members!
Our four legged furry girl needed some special care, we didn't know what to do. She started meowing constantly, scratching and licking herself 24-7 and wasn't getting any sleep, and keeping us up all night and day. Losing her shiney coat and losing weight, was another worry. Put her into a large pet carrier, and she reluctanly went, meowing and scratching all the way. The drive to see Dr. Houston; meowing got louder and louder the entire trip; whew, finally there. We got in immediatley, Miss Kitty still not happy, now does not want to come OUT of the carrier either. Dr. Houston talked to her quietly, and told her what a beautiful Tortie she was. Miss Kitty warmed up to her in just a few seconds of soft spoken vioces from her new found friend, Dr. Jaime Houston. Miss Kitty was weighed, and checked over thoroughly. We had a discussion about which foods she prefers and how long this very quiet kitty had decided to become excessively vocal. Trust was bonding and the purring started from our now, unfrightned kitty. Prescriptions and shots were decided, and the healing began. The scratching and excessive licking behavoir stopped. The complaining meowing stopped. The shiney coat returned, and the quiet kitty we once had, is back to soft purrs and playfulness again. Miss Kitty sent a Thank-You note to her new friend, Dr. Houston, and all of her new friends in the office. Purrrfectly happy with our trip to Barlow Trail Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Houston is also available at The Village Vet in Damascus,OR
I also thought that Barlow Trail was a great place till my cat had a "Serious" issue. I trusted that they had the best interest at heart for my cat but boy was I wrong, after paying almost 700 for test's and supervision they still could not tell me what was wrong with my cat. To top that off, I had to return the next day for a follow-up visit per the dr's request and they had enough $$$ in their eyes to charge me for ANOTHER visit. I do NOT believe that they are in business for the "concern/care" of anyones pets but that they are in it for all the money. I would not recommend or suggest this office to anyone who "LOVES" their pets. After I paid the second office visit, they informed me that I needed to be referred to a completely different doctor. Obviously they had charged me all they could suck out of me before they said "Sorry, nothing more we can do for you and we are not really sure whats wrong with your cat, so here go to this doctor and they can help you" I was so upset and concerned for my cat that they could see it in my eyes,so they "Socked" it to me right in the wallet. The worst part is I am still at the point of not knowing whats wrong with him, even after I paid over 700.00 to what I thought was a trust worthy vet. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID AND POSSIBLY LOOSE YOUR PET!
Over the past 20 years I have taken my dog and several cats to the vets and have had nothing but the best of care. My 14 year old dog had cancer and I am so appreciative for the care she received and the care the vets showed me. I highly recommend them!
