    Should be called the "Women's Inhumane Society" - their "policy" is that cats must be microchipped prior to adoption. They adamantly deny there are any negative health effects associated with implantable microchips, despite tons of scientific evidence to the contrary (even the USDA states "adverse tissue damage", cysts, tumors, inflammation, cancer, etc., can result from microchips). The Society denies animals the opportunity to be adopted into loving forever homes - it arrogantly holds tight to its non-negotiable position on microchips, and turns away potential adopters who don't want the pet microchipped. Ultimately, the animal languishes in the cage until the "Women's Inhumane Society" euthanizes it. Sad for the animals - shame on the agency !

    Don't get me wrong i love the humane society and i have adopted from there before and had a great experience! But,last time i tried to adopt from there the two ladies who introduced me to the animals were very very rude and every time we said something she would grunt and say that she didn't really care.i strongly suggest the humane society to others as long as you wouldn't talk to those ladies.{blonde,and ginger}

    I have the used the Humane Society a number of times and always been satisfied with the results, although I have had some long waits. My old vet did not care any more and was clearly there for the profit motive. My old vet is well known in the Abington area. I hope your experience with the Society will mirror mine and you will be happy too!

    My experience with this shelter: I wanted to adopt a dog. You look, but you are not allowed to interact. Before you can "meet" the dog, you must first attend a one-hour lecture/interview from some staff member. And before you do that, you have to wait one, or two, or even three hours for that interview because other people are there ahead of you, possibly wanting the same dog. And they really expected me to sit there for over an hour for a dog I might not want after all. ???? So I say to them. This is ridiculous, why should I wait if the people ahead of me want the same dog? Let me meet the dog first, then let me take your little mandatory interview if I decide I want it. Why go thru that if I then don't care for the dog? I've wasted my time. And, why not give everybody the lecture/interview at the same time? So, I never got a dog there. I have gotten smaller cage animals there thou, birds and a rabbit, but that was years ago. But, I concur that the staff are poorly trained, ignorant, and make you feel like you are bothering them when you come in and expect to be greeted and served.
