We have a 9 year old toy poodle that was diagnosed with a slipped disc by another local vet. He was placed on a round of steroids and muscle relaxers and we noticed that the problem wasn't getting any better when we were weaning him off of the meds. When we called the vet to let them know the problem wasn't getting better, they told us that there was nothing else that they could do, but they could give us the number of a neurologist to have him evaluated for possible back surgery or we could bring him back in and maybe they could give him another course of treatment. We decided to get a second opinion and the first place we called was the Camp Hill Animal Hospital. They were able to give us an appt. the very next day with Dr. Crawford. We took our dog in and was immediately impressed with Dr. Crawford. He gave him thorough exam and on a hunch wanted to test him for Lyme disease. The test came back positive and were given new meds to treat the new diagnosis. What is usually a bad diagnosis, we were very happy to hear that we wouldn't have to pay $5000 for back surgery. We have already transferred our records for our other dogs to the Camp Hill Animal Hospital. Highly recommend!!!
