I moved to West Virginia 2 years ago and still take my pets to Dr. Dodson's practice. I trust them implicitly and their prices are completely reasonable. A vet in my new town was going to charge me over $200 for some extensive blood work on a pet. I called GAH and the same test was only $60. When my cat was bitten by a poisonous snake and required months of treatment, they could have billed me a small fortune for all the work they did to save his leg, and did not! Always kind and courteous, can't find another practice like it!

I have been using the services of The Gettysburg Animal Hospital for over 10 years and feel the service that they provide is great. The staff are very generous and take the time to explain medications as well as procedures. They now accept credit cards to make it easier with whole billing process when the health of my pet is the foremost thing on my mind. I feel confident going to GAH that my dogs are receiving the best care without the absorptive pricing.

Dr. Dodson doesn’t care about your animal; he cares about your money. I will never return to Gettysburg Animal Hospital. Dr. Dodson owns the practice, his staff is nice, but HE is a terrible man. I took my cat in because she was throwing up; he told me she needed surgery. I needed to figure out how to pay for it before proceeding, and when I brought up money, he flipped out on me flailing his arms and storming around the room. He said to me, and I quote “Let me ask you this, why did you even bother coming here today?” Are you kidding me?! I have never been spoken to with such disrespect in my life and all because I inquired about the cost of a surgery. he told me to get out and I left in tears and humiliated. I called other places to see if they could do it but had no luck since it needed to happen immediately. I swallowed my pride, called Dodson again the next day to see if he would do it and he said no. He didn’t think he could work with me per our conversation the day before. I asked if another surgeon from his practice could do it, he said “I don’t want anyone in my building working on your animal.” I had to put my cat down. She was only 2. He had the power to save my cat’s life and said no because his ego was bruised. Dodson, you killed my cat. You work in an industry where compassion is number one, and showed none whatsoever. I reported him to the Better Business Bureau.

I recently switched to Gettysburg Animal Hospital because my previous vet (in northern Frederick Co. MD) had become too expensive. Gettysburg Animal Hospital was recommended by a friend and I've been very pleased so far. I've taken 3 of our 6 pets here and my total bill is often 40% less than at my previous vet - routine vaccination fees seem especially reasonable. I like the vets that we've seen so far and feel that my pets are well cared for here. Cash or check only, no credit cards.

I originally took my pet here for updated shots and to check on a limp. The wait was a little long but I could tolerate that, however their website mentioned nothing about only taking cash or check. Since I only use online banking I did not have either. I've decided to switch to the other vet in town simply on the fact that they accept credit cards and Gettsyburg Animal Hospital does not.
